Employee is seeing "We weren't able to show your payroll info" message when trying to log in. How we can fix this?

@JonpriL I respectfully disagree with your statement, "Our priority is to resolve the issue with Workforce access..."  This thread started on January 11, 2021 at 05:24 AM.  That was nine months ago!!!!!  Babies have been conceived and born since this thread started.

All that gets posted here is stock, template customer support statements like, "Currently, there's an investigation related to the error..."  If this was a priority to Intuit, it would be fixed by now.  This is an account configuration issue, a bug, that clearly is reproducible.  So reproduce it and fix it.  I am in the customer service business and I provided this type of customer service to those that I serve, I would be unemployed.  It's honestly that simple.

From the optic of your customer base, your priority appears to be collecting your monthly fees, not providing us the value and service that we're paying for.  Fix the problem.

Employee is seeing "We weren't able to show your payroll info" message when trying to log in. How we can fix this?

I've had the same problem for over a year now. I've now used all 3 emails I use to create new accounts so I can access them. It only lasted me about a month each time. I gave up and just let the office give me paper copies since it's the law here anyway. Still annoying I can't look up any information about my pay or tax info.
Tech support had no answers for me either. Accounts had nothing to say and sent me to IT, who also had nothing to say and sent me to Accounts.

12/13/21 Same issue here. The company has sent 4 invitations. I have accepted the invitation and then "Welcome to the (company name)" then that's it. Get the error.  I am on chat and getting the same instructions again.  Get another invite from your employer, accept the invitation.  FYI... your messages at least let me know that it doesn't look like this will get resolved any time soon. I don't like the fact that I will have to wait for paystubs and my W2. What a disservice.

Employee is seeing "We weren't able to show your payroll info" message when trying to log in. How we can fix this?

12/20/2021 I'm having the same issue. I don't think it's a problem with my account, as my login works with Timesheet. Thankfully, my company is willing to print paper paystubs for me, but I hope this gets resolved soon. I'm not sure if the investigation is still underway, but it would be great to be able to access everything before tax season. I've tried doing the workaround steps twice with no luck.

It is December 29, 2021 and i have been on the phone for 3 days talking to people who cannot address the problem without "checking with the backroom".  Same issue almost a year later.  We are paying for this.

Thanks for joining this thread, @Electrictank. I've got your back to ensure employees can see their payroll info in the Workforce.

If this is not the first time that your employees accepting the invite, we can perform some troubleshooting steps to fix this. There are times that the browser is full of frequently accessed page resources, which causes some errors or unusual responses. Let your employee start accessing their account using a different or a private browser. You can use either of these shortcut keys:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl Shift N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl Shift P
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl Shift P
  • Safari: Command Shift N

Once they have successfully viewed their payroll info, go back to your regular browser and clear its cache. This is done to speed up the process next time you do a transaction in QuickBooks Online. Also, an alternative way is to use other compatible browsers.

If this is the first time that you're employees are accepting an invite, let's ensure there are no special characters in the employee's name. Aside from that, let's make sure the employee is also not an admin on the Company Realm. If so, then the employee needs to use a different e-mail address for Workforce than they use as the admin for the company realm.

If the issue persists, I suggest contacting our support team. They can further investigate the root cause of your concern and help find a fix.

To learn more about how the workforce works in QuickBooks Online, please visit this article: View your paychecks and W-2s in QuickBooks Workforce. This will provide you with steps on where you can change the email address as well as view their W-2s.

Hi there, Sicabaw1. Thanks for joining this thread.

Since none of the troubleshooting steps mentioned above did the trick, I recommend reaching out to a member of the QuickBooks Online Payroll Support Team. Agents have the necessary tools to take a closer look at your account to determine why you're unable to access your payroll info for W-2 forms.

Here's how to get in touch with the team:

1. Click the Help button in the top right corner.
2. Select Contact Us.
3. Enter Support in the field and choose Let's talk.
4. From here you can select to receive a callback at a time that's convenient for you, or begin a live chat session with an agent.

The following linked article provides these steps if you ever need them again in the future: QuickBooks Online Payroll Support

Please don't hesitate to reach back out if you have any other questions. I'll be here to help in any way that I can.

Employee is seeing "We weren't able to show your payroll info" message when trying to log in. How we can fix this?

Hello there, lkjkljhklj.

I appreciate your effort and for performing some troubleshooting to get this fixed.

If this is not your first time to accept the invitation and haven't tried the troubleshooting steps below, we can isolate this one by accessing the link using a private browser. Here's how:

  • Press Ctrl Shift (Google Chrome)
  • Ctrl Shift (Firefox) (Microsoft Edge)
  • Control Option (Safari)

If it works, return to your default browser and clear its cache and cookies to refresh the system. This will also remove the older data which can potentially cause viewing and performance issues. However, if the issue persists, I'd recommend using other supported browsers.

On the other hand, if this is the first time that you'll accept an invite, you'll want to double check your details.

  • Employee's name has no special characters.
  • Employee is not an admin on the Company Realm. If you're an admin on the Company Realm, you'll have to use a different e-mail address for Workforce.

If the same thing happens, probably, you're affected with the new ongoing investigation. Our engineers are still working on resolving this and we're not given any time frame when it will be sorted out. Please give us a short call or you can let your employer contact us to add their company details as one of the affected users.

You can utilize the Help icon within your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account to get in touch with them.

QuickBooks Team is always here if you need anything else.

Employee is seeing "We weren't able to show your payroll info" message when trying to log in. How we can fix this?

Hello there, @wizprovence. I want to ensure you'll be able to access your payroll information in QuickBooks. I'm here to provide updates and details about the error you're having.

Currently, there's an ongoing investigation about the error We weren't able to show your payroll info when accepting invites or accessing paystubs in QuickBooks Workforce.

I know that this issue delays your working progress so I've got here several workarounds you can perform to fix it. Before we begin, let's ensure that you're using a supported browser in accessing your paystubs or W2s.

Once confirmed and still encountering the same thing, let's now verify that there are no special characters in the employee's name and they are not an admin on the Company Realm in Oii. If so, the employee has to use a different e-mail address for Workforce.

If the issue persists, you may want to utilize a different browser/device in accepting the invite. Log in using the original email address and password. If in case the invite gets expired, request a new one from your employer.

Another workaround is to change your Username and create a new Intuit account for the same email. Here's how:

  1. Head to the https://accounts.intuit.com page.
  2. Next, sign in using your existing username and password.
  3. Then, go to the Username area and click Edit.
  4. From there, change the information to a different username (must not be a full email address).
  5. After that, open the email invite.
  6. Then, create an account using the email address as a username.

If you still get the same error, I recommend asking your employer to resend the invitation to a different email address (brand new).

However, if you've done all the troubleshooting steps and still receive the same issue, I highly recommend reaching out to our Customer Care team to report this and add you to the list of affected users. This way, you'll be notified of updates and resolutions about the investigation.

Please let me know updates on how this goes. I appreciate any information you can add. Also, feel free to post again here in the Community if you have any other QuickBooks-related concerns. I'm always here ready to lend a hand. Have a great day ahead and keep safe.

Employee is seeing "We weren't able to show your payroll info" message when trying to log in. How we can fix this?

This problem is still persistent with new employee setup. We struggled with QB team with no resolution so far. Existing employees are able to see the left navigation that shows the paystubs and profile, but new employee cannot. It seems QB has a problem in setting up. We have tried different browsers, have cleared cache, new employee email and all possible suggestion. Has anyone else found a resolution to this long-standing issue?

This isn't the experience we want you to have, @vmaki09. I also appreciate you for doing some initial steps to resolve this.

Thanks for understanding @Rubielyn_J. However, as I noted, we have tried brand new email address, different browsers and machines. It is not tied to that issue. It seems that QB backend system rejects the user such that a service is not called.  Here is the console log information (Ignore XXXX - masked):

Thank you QB team. It looks like the backend team fixed the problem. It would be good to share the information in the community, to alleviate concerns related to this long-standing issue. This issue resolution has nothing to do with the Client Browser or History or Cache.

Employee is seeing "We weren't able to show your payroll info" message when trying to log in. How we can fix this?

It looks like that issue in the back end is that the QB system is looking for any W4 information present for any employee in payroll for employees. Looks like once they cleaned up W4 and archived, the employee access was enabled. One the downside, we are not able to use the Documents tab, for each employee now, and have to go to https://app.qbo.intuit.com/app/payrolltax/forms/employee to check archived forms per employee.
