Join nowLet me guide you where you can file the W-2 form in QuickBooks Online, smith4.
If the W-2 form is not there, we can file your W2 on the Taxes page. It's another way of filing the payroll form aside from the dashboard. I would like to make sure that you'll be able to get the process.
The steps below will guide you on how to do it:
I would like to attach these articles. I can see that you've done checking one of them but would still include it so you can have it anytime you need a reference about the W2 form.
Let me know if you have other questions about filing your payroll forms. Thanks!
In the first set of instructions I don't see a "View and Print Archived Forms"
In the second set, under #2, there is no "Annual Forms" option to select from.
Thoughts?
Thanks,
Dave
@smith4 It's great you are using our resources to find your answers to questions about QuickBooks. If you do not see the option to file W-2's and you have not previously submitted them it could be that we do not have 2019 payroll data to produce them. Did you run payroll with your current subscription for 2019?
I did from Quickbooks Desktop. I migrated about two months ago. Shouldn't that information have migrated over as well?
Still seeking an answer on this. I did run payroll through Quickbooks last year but I was on the desktop version. Can I still run a W2 now that I'm on the online version? What steps do I need to complete to do that? Remember, while I've run my first payroll for online I'm still not seeing any forms in that section. See attached.
...I also need to run last quarters Florida RT-6. I just tried from desktop but it said I have to reactivate. It would have been great if the sales guy told me that none of this was going to be transferred during the desktop-to-online process.
Hello again, @smith4.
When importing data from QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) to QuickBooks Online (QBO), payroll information will not be transferred, it'll only carry over company and employee information. You can either enter prior payroll or run it normally in the online version.
In your case, since 2019 payroll data wasn't entered, you may need to temporarily reactivate your payroll account in QBDT. So, you can file the forms from there. You can contact our Customer Support team for guidance.
