I have the same issue... I need to print two additional 1099's after printing initial batch.  I can only see how to review and print all 1099's again.  Any direction on how to print another two 1099 and the corresponding 1096 much appreciated...

How can I add a late 1099 form?

I added 2 additional 1099s, and followed the process. Are you sure it didn't re-do all the others that were already submitted? I think it charged me for all of them again?

I want to make sure you’re only paying for the services you used. Let me help point you in the right direction about the filed 1099s and charges.

When you file the 1099s using the steps in this link, you’ll receive an email to check the status of the forms. All you have to do is log in to your 1099 E-File account to view the information. From there, you’ll be able to see the additional e-filed tax forms.

  • Not Submitted: You haven't e-filed Form 1099-NEC or 1099-MISC with the IRS. You can continue revising it.
  • Submitted: You have e-filed the form to the IRS. Note: If you need to revise it, you may need to file a manual amendment. Use these IRS instructions and form to do so.
  • Received by IRS: The IRS has received your form and is either processing it or has already processed and approved it. Customers who have submitted their 1099 E-File forms will receive a confirmation email approximately a week after the IRS accepts and confirms submissions. You may not receive this confirmation until the middle of January or later.

For the charges, I recommend contacting our Payroll Support Team. They’ll have to gather personal data to pull up billing. Then provide detailed information about the fees.

To reach them:

  1. Tap the Help icon and click the Contact Us menu.
  2. Enter the issue or topic in the field box and press Continue. For example, contact payroll
  3. From the support options, choose Chat or Callback.

I’ve included an article that contains detailed instructions on how to process your 1099s. It provides answers to frequently asked questions: Create and file 1099s using QuickBooks Online.

Keep in touch if you have additional questions or concerns. I’ll be around to answer them for you. Have a good one.

How can I add a late 1099 form?

I am in the same boat.  I missed one and tried to add per your instructions, but it only gives the initial batch I did.  It isn't adding this one I missed.  Do I need to do something manually because it is past deadline?

How can I add a late 1099 form?

Hello there, @smood.

You're already on the right track in filing the additional 1099 form in QuickBooks Online (QBO). You'll first have to make sure your contractor is active and set up for 1099 tracking. This way, you're able to add the one you've missed when filing Form 1099s. Let me guide you how.

  1. Go to the Expenses menu.
  2. Choose Vendors.
  3. Select the contractor, then click Edit.
  4. Mark the Track payments for 1099 checkbox
  5. Click Save.

I've attached a screenshot below that shows the last two steps.

80.PNG

After that, let's go back to the Prepare 1099s page and e-file the additional form. I'd recommend checking out this article's Step 3 to sections for the step-by-step guide: Create and file 1099s using QuickBooks Online.

The same goes with the initial batch you've e-filed, you'll receive an email notification for your filings' status.

Also, I'm adding this article to answer the most frequently asked questions about Form 1099s in QBO: What is 1099, and do I need to file one?. It includes topics about 1099-NEC, 1099-MISC, and 1099-K.

I'm just around if you have other 1099 concerns or inquiries about filing them in QuickBooks. Take care always.

How can I add a late 1099 form?

Can I still file a late 2020 1099? I when I clicked on prepare 1099s but the site seem to be closed and is waiting to reopen for 2021 filing. Please advise. Thanks

I can share some details about filing 1099 today, @sliang.

Any forms to be filed beyond May 1st will have to be done manually.

To prepare it in QuickBooks Online, you'll want to go to the Vendors page then click the Prepare 1099s button. Ensure to select only the vendor with the late 1099 form.

Here's how:

  1. After clicking the Prepare 1099s button, proceed with Continue your 1099s
  2. Go back to the Contractors section by clicking the Back button.
  3. Click the Add from the Vendor list button.
  4. Deselect the vendor or contractors that you don't need and select only the one with the late form.
  5. Click Save, then continue preparing the late 1099.

In addition, I would recommend contacting the IRS so they can assess the fees.

For reference about filing the 1099 forms, you can check this article: Create and file 1099s using QuickBooks Online.

If you need to run reports for your finances and other data, you can check out the leads from the Reports topic page.

I'll give you what else you need to know if you have more questions about QuickBooks Online's 1099's processes. Just reply here, and I'll share the details.

How can I add a late 1099 form?

Hi, when I chose this option, it is only showing 1099 for year 2021, is there an option to choose to generate 1099 forms for the last year 2020.

How can I add a late 1099 form?

Thanks for taking the time to post your concern in this thread, @reddym.

I want to make sure you're able to file the previous year's 1099 form. Please know that we update the version of our form every year. It means that only the current version (2021) is available for filing.

If you need to file old data, you can do it outside the program. You can manually fill out a 2020 1099-Form and submit it to the agency. You can access the 1099-MISC form here. You can get the data in QuickBooks by pulling up vendor transaction reports.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Report menu.
  2. On the report finder, type in the word "vendor" and click the report you want to view.
  3. Update the report data to 2020, so it shows the data you need.

I'm adding a few related links to help you further with your 1099 processing:

Please let me know if you have other concerns ABOUT 1099 filing or if you're referring to something else. I'm just around to help.

How can I add a late 1099 form?

Thanks for joining in on this thread, amg83.

Let me walk you through the steps where you can add the additional forms.

You can file another set of 1099s by going to Payroll > Contractors > Prepare 1099s. If you haven't added the contractors yet, let's add them first by following these steps:

  1. Go to Payroll > Contractors.
  2. Select Add a contractor
  3. Enter your contractor’s info, or select the Email this contractor checkbox so they can fill it out.
  4. When you're done, click Add contractor.

After you entered the contractor, you need to start tracking their payments.

Here's how:

  1. Go to Expenses > Vendors.
  2. Find and select the name of the vendor or contractor you want to track and select the Edit button to open their profile.
  3. Put a check mark on the Track payments for 1099 box.
  4. Hit Save.

QuickBooks will start tracking all of their payments behind the scenes. When you're ready to file your 1099s, the steps in this article will guide you through the process: Create and file 1099s using QuickBooks Online.

In addition, if you need to file 1099s for a separate company, you can log in to the Intuit 1099 E-File Service. Then, you will see the last company you filed for on the Toolbar. From there, you can select the drop-down and then "Add another Intuit 1099 E-File Service Subscription”. This will give you a page to begin entering the next company's information. Note: Each subscription for each company is a separate fee.

I'm adding these articles for reference about setting up a contractor and to help you with other year-end task:

Please feel free to leave a reply on this thread if you have any additional questions or need help with other concerns. Take care and stay safe.

How can I add a late 1099 form?

I just figured this out. Proceed through the screens like you're re-submitting all the 1099s and click the payment you want. When QBs online redirects you to the Intuit 1099 E File Services site (blue banner at the top); click "Step 1 Review your info". There you can select or de-select the contractor you want. Then click through submitting to the IRS.

How can I add a late 1099 form?

The contractor i need to issue a 1099 to isn't listed.  He is set up as a vendor and the 1099 box is checked.

I'll help you resolve this, cbfellowship.

Let's make sure that your contractor's payments are associated with a box from the 1099 form. This can be the reason why you their not listed when preparing their 1099. I've got the steps on how to verify their details:

1. Go to the Expenses menu and then select Vendors or Payroll.
2. Click on Contractors.
3. Select Prepare 1099 and select Continue until you get to the window called “Check that the payments add up.”
4. Select the arrow next to the filter icon at the top of the table and change the type of contractors to 1099 Contractors below threshold.

Aside from that, ensure you're paying contractors from the right expense account. You'll have to check if the accounts are mapped to report 1099 transactions. I'll guide you how.

1. Go to the Reports menu.
2. Type Transaction List in the search bar, then select Transaction List by Vendor.
3. Select Customize.
4. Set the Report period to Last Year (or Last Calendar Year).
5. On the Rows/Columns section, select the Change columns link then put a checkmark on the Split box.
6. On the Filter section, place a checkmark on the Vendor box.
7. From the drop-down, choose 1099 vendors who are in question.
8.Select Run report.
9. Look under the Splits column for what accounts the vendor's transactions were tied to. If you see the word "SPLIT," select the transaction to see details on what accounts were affected.

Hello there, @jhcct. I'm here to help you add additional 1099 detail after filing in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

To do so, you can simply follow the same steps you've done for the other contractors. Let me guide you on how:

  1. In your QBO account, navigate to the Expenses menu.
  2. Next, select the Vendors tab.
  3. In the right corner of your screen, you'll see Prepare 1099s. Click the option.
  4. Then, you'll be routed to the next page, click the Continue your 1099s.
  5. From there, follow the next steps for filing.

For reference, check out this article: Create and file 1099s with QuickBooks Online.

After you file your 1099s to the IRS, you’ll receive a confirmation about your filings’ status through email.

How can I add a late 1099 form?

Hello there, businessadmin1 & nonproftx.

I'll provide further information when adding a new 1099 in QuickBooks Online, and finding the "Continue to e-file 1099s".

@businessadmin1, QBO will detect contractors who have already been filed and should only display those you recently added to the system. If they still appear on the list, deselect them before continuing to file the new ones.

@nonproftx, the Continue to e-file button should appear after clicking Next from the Preview forms window. I've attached screenshots for your visual reference.

If the issue continues, begin by logging into your QuickBooks account in a private or incognito window. Private browsing does not use extensions and prevents browsing history from being saved in the cache. Please use these keyboard shortcuts:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Safari 11 or newer: ⌘ + Shift + N
  • MS Edge and Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P

If it works, go back to your default browser and clear the cached files. Otherwise, switch to another supported browser if the issue persists.

Moreover, you can also give your contractors the ability to see their 1099 forms online. For more information, refer to this article: Fill out a W-9 and View Your 1099-MISC in QuickBooks Self-Employed.

Keep me posted if you need further help with 1099s or other concerns. I'm always here to assist.

Glinnette. Thanks for your prompt reply. I don't know what version of QBO you are referring to. I am using the one online now and I am using "categories" for Project Accounting. Your solution is not available for me. I am using Brave browser on a freshly booted computer this morning. QB support last night was able to give me a solution involving changing the account used for the payment to one that was not used in the initial filing. The vendor appeared correctly. I unchecked the previously filed vendors. And it looked like it would process fine. I did not process it because I had already manually filed him. I then went back and changed the account back to my original posting. Please call me if you would like to discuss this. and again, thanks for your prompt reply.

Thanks for the info. This worked for me and I got the message that it had been created successfully. Now, when I run my summary report, this one does appear, but is not in the list of Current Filings, nor is it one of the downloaded files when click the "Download" button. Is this because it hasn't been accepted yet?

How can I add a late 1099 form?

Hello there, @hfahle.

Let me share additional information about 1099 filing.

Yes, if the one you filed is not yet accepted, it will not show yet in the current filings. After you filed 1099, you will receive an email with the filing status.

The status of your e-filed 1099 can be viewed under Filing status. It can either be one of the following:

  • Not Submitted: You haven't e-filed the forms with the IRS. Thus, you can keep revising it as needed.
  • Submitted: You have e-filed the form to the IRS. It can also show as Sent on your screen. If you need to revise it, you can file a manual amendment.
  • Received by IRS: The IRS has received your form. They could be currently processing it or have already approved it. You'll receive an email confirmation approximately a week after the IRS accepts and confirms submissions.

Here is an article you can read about creating and filing 1099 in QuickBooks Online: Create and file 1099s with QuickBooks Contractor Payments.

I'm also adding this article to help you view past tax payments and forms in QuickBooks: View your previously filed tax forms and payments.

Let me know if you have questions about 1099 filings. I'm always here to help. Have a great day.
