How can I push through payroll in the same day?

It's great to see you here today, @amy.vanderbur

Pushing through payroll on the same day depends on the payroll service you have. If you're using the Enhanced (existing customer) or Core (new customer) version, you may have a 1-day or a 5-day lead time. For Full Service, Premium, or Elite version, you may have a same-day direct deposit or a 5-day lead time. For more information, see the two QuickBooks Online Payroll sections through this article: Understanding Lead Times And Payroll Submission Days

First, let's determine which payroll service you have. This way, we can verify if you're eligible with the same-day direct deposit feature. I'll guide you how.

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account.
  2. Go to the Settings (Gear) icon at the upper right.
  3. Select Account and Settings under Your Company
  4. Go to Billing & Subscription from the left menu.
  5. Locate the payroll plan you’re using.

The screenshot below shows you the last two steps. For the detailed instructions, check out this article: Which Payroll Service Do I Have?

If you're using the Enhanced or Core plan, I'd suggest upgrading it to Full Service, Premium, or Elite. Just repeat the first four steps above. Then, click Upgrade from the QuickBooks Online Payroll section. Confirm your payment information and choose Save.

However, if you're using the Full Service, Premium, or Elite version, you'll have to submit payroll before 7:00 AM PST on payday. Just make sure you have funds in your account to cover the amount. This pushes through payroll on the same day. After that, your money will draw from your account, and your employees will see the money by 5:00 PM. You can also send payroll before 5:00 PM on the day before payday for this same-day direct deposit process.

I recommend running any payroll reports in the software. These will help you get a closer look at your business' finances, payroll costs, and employees. To access them, visit this article: Payroll Reports Overview

I'm here anytime you have other concerns. Enjoy the rest of your day, @amy.vanderbur
