In QuickBooks Online (QBO), moving one company data from one QBO to another is unavailable. Thus, to do the merging process, here's what you'll need to do:
For more information about this process, see this article: Move your lists to QuickBooks Online.
If you need further assistance about merging your accounts, feel free to post again here. I'll be always around to lend you a hand. Have a great day.
These are not 2 different companies. I want the subscriptions that I have. When I log in now it asks to select the company, but they are the same name. It's just that one has everything except the payroll and the other one is only the payroll. It's the same company. This just happened after Intuit online payroll said it was migrating to Quickbooks online payroll.
I appreciate you for getting back to this thread, @art-b. Let me chime in and clarify things for you.
Intuit Online Payroll employee data, past payroll, and tax information will be ready in the QuickBooks Online Payroll product as soon as you or your client's transition.
In your case, you have two companies that you want to merge. As mentioned by my colleagues above, this process is unavailable. If you wish to transfer your payroll data to a QuickBooks Online account, you can follow the steps in this article: Setup export of IOP data to QuickBooks Online (QBO).

I am on the phone with support for two hours now trying to fix this. Hating every minute of it.
I know this wasn't an easy process for you, tarheelbornbred.
Allow me to provide some information about combining two companies in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
Currently, the option to merge two companies isn't available in QuickBooks Online. However, you can only export the data out from one account and import it to the second one.
To export data:
To import data:
As another option, you may consider looking for a third-party application to migrate the data between QBO accounts. Please visit this website: QuickBooks Apps.

2. Purchase a 3rd party merging service.
support is no help. and it's ridiculous that when Intuit forced the IOP to QB payroll core transition that they didn't plan better for customers who would want to have the data together in one file. We're being punished for being an earlier adopter of payroll services.
Has there been any updates on this issue? We are still operating under 2 separate companies, with one company storing the clients payroll files only and the other company storing the same clients QB accounting files. This is frustrating and I'm hoping that Intuit has some sort of solution in place by now! Well??
I'd also feel upset when something doesn't work the way we want it to be, KGkzoo22.
I haven't received updates regarding merging two companies after transitioning payroll services. The option to merge them is still unavailable.
You may consider looking for a third-party merging application that can help you integrate with QuickBooks. You can visit our QuickBooks App Store or navigate the Apps menu within your account. Here are the steps:
Additionally, you can review the Setup export of IOP data to QuickBooks Online (QBO to convert your data.

I have the same problem
Hi there, tamaratrebil. I appreciate you for joining the thread.
Yes, it's true that when you log in from your IOP account to your QBO account, it sometimes brings up a different version with and without payroll information.
To help you with this, ensure you log in using the correct username in QBO. And to merge the accounts, you can log in without the payroll company and enter the prior payroll or get the data from the other company with payroll.
Also, ensure that you've subscribed to payroll under this company. After that, you can log in to the company with payroll-only data and cancel the subscription.
If the same error persists even if you logged on with the correct user name, I recommend contacting QuickBooks Online Payroll support.
They can help you find your payroll account and verify if your user name in IOP is linked to QBO.
Here's how to contact them:
