Welcome, @bugleboy!

You can change the rate of your SUI tax directly from the state taxes section of your Payroll Settings.

To do so:

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Under Your Company, select Payroll Settings.
  3. On the Setup section, tap Texas.
  4. Select SUI.
  5. Tap Change or Add new rate.
  6. Enter the new rate and effective date of your SUI tax.
  7. Click OK.

Here's an article you can read to learn more about how you can change your SUI tax rate: Enter or change state unemployment insurance (SUI) tax rates.

I've got you this article for more insights about your SUI tax with your payroll liability payments: Relation between State unemployment (SUI) and FUTA payments.

Let me know in the comment section down below if you have any other concerns. I'm always around happy to lend a helping hand.

No this did not solve my problem.  I got to step 3 "Click on Texas" - but there is no such link.

Below is a copy of my Payroll page.

Hi bugleboy,

Your settings is kinda different are you using the QuickBooks Online Payroll? When you click the Gear icon and choose Payroll Settings, you should be landing on the page shown in the screenshot. Then, you can click on State Taxes - TX and change the SUI rate.

If you're not seeing the settings in the screenshot, please reach out to our support to check this further. They can use a screen-sharing tool to guide you through the process.

  1. Open this article: Support hours and types.
  2. Expand the Online Payroll section.
  3. Click Start a message on the payroll service that you're subscribed to.

Let me know if you have other questions with changing the rate of your SUI.
