Thank you to everyone who recommended Big Red Consulting's solution. It worked perfectly!

For anyone nervous to try it, there's nothing to it. You just use their link and it literally walks you through the entire thing like it used to through QB's. It was painless!

Thank you so much Big Red Consulting for the solution. Hopefully QB's will get their stuff figured out sooner rather than later!

I am on right networks and cannot use the Big Red Consulting fix since I cannot download onto their network. This MUST be fixed this month or I will be fined for not uploading this file. If anything, I rather go back to an earlier version where it is still working! PLEASE FIX THIS!

Thank you Big Red Consulting. Clearly QB is asking for me to change to a different platform.

Big thanks to Big Red Consulting and Just Jim! Your solutions to work around Intuit's inconvenient upgrades are working just like they used to now in QuickBooks. Certainly disappointed with Intuit's lack of a good response on this issue.

We don't want you to feel this inconvenience, @rascomasonry. And I want to make sure this is taken care of.

Since you can't use the file shared by BigRedConsulting via the right networks, I suggest reaching out to Right Networks' support line. This way, they can help you run the file and successfully file your monthly Illinois unemployment in QuickBooks.

You might also want to read this article to learn more about the compliance with state and payroll tax regulations: Illinois Payroll Tax Compliance.

@PGDG and @bmCPA, I'm glad that the file shared by BigRedConsulting helps fix your issue with filing the monthly Illinois unemployment in CSV format. If you still need further assistance filing your state unemployment forms, I recommend contacting our QuickBooks Support Team for further help.

Please touch base with me here for all of your QuickBooks needs, I'm always happy to help. Thanks for dropping by.

Do we know if QB is planning to correct this issue?  I just spent an hour online with QB Support and they said that The best advice that our Payroll team provided is you should reach out your state agency about this matter.

This is not very helpful.

Thanks for your input into this matter,

Karen

Thanks for joining us here in the Community, @Krn2.

I hear you and realize the importance of being able to create a .CSV file of your state forms directly in QuickBooks Desktop.

At this time, it'd be best to submit your monthly Illinois unemployment reports directly to your agency to ensure that you won't be penalized while this QuickBooks is still working on the availability of this option.

Know that our developers are still coordinating with our compliance payroll team to make this work and get you back on track.

To be updated with our latest news and enhancements, I encourage you to visit our Firm of the Future site. I'd also recommend running the payroll update regularly so your tax table can catch up with its latest release.

I'll be around to lend a helping hand if you need anything else, @Krn2. Have a good one!

I received this email yesterday and thought it was now working.

Updated Illinois Unemployment Insurance E-file Process

We have made an enhancement to the Illinois unemployment insurance e-file process. The Illinois monthly and quarterly CSV file is no longer available in QuickBooks. Moving forward please follow these steps to e-file your IL UI-3/40 Employer's Contribution and Wage Reports:

  • Click on Payroll Center
  • Select the File Forms Tab
  • Scroll down and select UI-3/40- Employer's Contribution and Wage Report

This enhanced one-click e-file feature will simplify Illinois UI-3/40 e-file submissions for your business. Please be aware that since this is now a direct e-file submission you will no longer be required to complete the UI-40A separately.

We apologize for the delay in communicating this change.

Sincerely,

The QuickBooks E-file and Pay Team

It does not work as of 2/10/2021 11:26am CST

I called Tech support and they said I had to still to submit CSV file.

I then started looking around and found the Big Red solution and was able to complete and get on with tax season. I am tired of being a beta tester (unpaid and not signed up) for Intuit.

Thanks again to Big Red for providing a solution.

HOw is this happening!!!!  Can anyone do their job anymore!  This fix should have happened years ago for the money we are paying Quickbooks to process forms!  And now you have "fixed" it and it is worse than before.  I am going to say what i keep saying - GET EMPLOYEES BACK IN THE OFFICE!!!!  Very frustrating and I assume Quickbooks will be paying all fines and penalties!!!!!

Why would you give a link to Illinois Payroll Tax Compliance from a year ago?  Obviously nothing has changed with the State of Illinois.  The only change has been to Quickbooks.  I don't understand why the developers can drop a feature, have no explanation for doing it, and then drag their feet in getting the feature back in an update.  Further, why are all of the people who are hurt by this change being given incorrect advice and then when they push past that, QB support can't even leave them an open support ticket.  I hope that I'm wrong, but it looks like the support team is keeping their stats looking good at the expense of all of the users who are suffering from this problem.  At this point, no one from QB on this board has explicitly acknowledged the problem or indicated that the developers are actively trying to correct it. My extensive chat with two different support agents ended with a recommendation that I send feedback instead of escalating the problem that they could not solve. It is just insult added to our injury.

This is not acceptable in any way. QB support team is about as useful as a white crayon at this point. Not one single time have they been able to fix an issue and by the looks of it I'm not alone. I'm not looking for a third party to generate what QB should generate. This has been a requirement in Illinois for quite some time now. Nothing new.

Please describe what actions are being taken and when this will be resolved! This is absolutely ridiculous. Another due date is approaching.

Agreed, not acceptable at all!!! We are a small non-profit camp and could not operate in 2020 - it makes it very hard to justify what we pay for Quickbooks on a yearly basis when we are unable to use a feature which has been available and required for quite a long time. Waiting impatiently for a solution.

I received the same notice for the "enhanced one-click e-file feature" that says it will "simplify Illinois UI-3/40 e-file submissions".... HOWEVER, this still does not work.  I'm puzzled how Intuit could send out a notice for an enhancement to the system without thorough testing.  Not to mention this has been an ongoing issue for several weeks and no resolution to date.  Please fix/enable this new enhancement!  Thanks!

RE: This is not acceptable in any way. QB support team is about as useful as a white crayon at this point.

That's funny! I hadn't heard that one before.

RE: Not one single time have they been able to fix an issue and by the looks of it I'm not alone.

An excellent description of this thread and many others...

RE: I'm not looking for a third party to generate what QB should generate.

You're right. But note that that what I posted, linked to on this thread, is Intuit's solution before they removed IL without explanation or for any reason they've been able to articulate.

Thank you!  After a long list of suggestions that were either completely off base or didn't work, this solved my issue.  Hopefully Quickbooks will show Illinois some love soon, but this will keep me on the straight and narrow until they do.

This worked perfectly!  I read through all the threads and I should've just stopped here at this one and followed the link....would've saved me lots of time.  This will take you to the old release and you create the file as normal.

The only issue is quickbooks.  Illinois has not changed their requirements for submitting a monthly csv file.

Please Quickbooks, listen and respond timely.  Also it is much easier to explain talking to a live person who has payroll reporting knowledge.  If you are lucky to speak to support they act like you don't have a clue when it is the other way around.
