Hello there, @sherry_pottorf.

Deleting or Voiding paychecks in QuickBooks Online (QBO) is easy. The process will depend on your payroll service processing time. You can delete a paycheck if it hasn't been processed yet. You can void a paycheck if it is already cashed. To do so, please refer to these steps:

  1. Go to the Payroll menu, then select Employees.
  2. Click Paycheck list.
  3. Pick the check you'd like to delete.
  4. Select the I understand that this action cannot be undone checkbox.
  5. Choose either Delete Paycheck or Void Paycheck.

To learn more, check out this article: Delete or void employee paychecks.

However, if the steps above do not work for you, I recommend reaching out to our Payroll support team. They can pull up your account in a secure place and help you delete or void the paychecks.

Also, QBO has several ready-made reports that you can access to view your employee and business information. To get started, see this article: Run payroll reports.

Should you need any assistance with deleting or voiding a paycheck in QBO, please leave a reply below. I'm always available to help at any time. Take care.

Hello,

I need to correct prior Q1 & Q2 paychecks for a minister where FICA was withheld. What is best practice here?

I made a journal entry to adjust one check and it isn't flowing through on the tax liability reports.

Hi there, @Jen in Va.

I want to ensure you're able to fix the incorrect amount of taxes withheld for certain paychecks from the prior quarter in QuickBooks Online.

Journal entries in QuickBooks don't affect the amount reflected in a liability report. This is the reason why the attempted adjustment you made didn't flow through your liability report.

Therefore, I recommend contacting our Payroll Care Team and working with one of our specialists to pull up your account on file, review it, and make the adjustment needed to edit your payroll information. I'll show you how.

  1. Go to Help.
  2. Select Search.
  3. Click Contact Us.
  4. Enter Payroll adjustment for FICA withheld in Q1 and Q2 in the What can we help you with? text area.
  5. Choose Chat with us or Have us call you.

I want to include that reaching out to our Customer Care Support is best during business hours from 6 AM-6 PM PT Monday-Friday. Use this link for the contact details to connect with our team online: Contact Payroll Support

For all the features and functions of QuickBooks, it's best to log in using any of our supported browser versions for the best experience and use this reference for guidance: Help Articles in QuickBooks Online. Also, you can read subtopics that will describe how a feature is used and how to accomplish tasks related to its functions.

Let me know how it goes in the comments below. Don't forget to include my name, @JonpriL, in your reply so that I can get back here and answer all your QuickBooks and payroll concerns. Take care always and stay safe!
