Payroll service says active yet won't work. Feels like blackmail to update to 2019 before May.

Hello there, @ttgreeneyes69.

You've got me her to help so you'll be able to run payroll successfully. Subscription alerts usually occurs during this situations:

  • QuickBooks is not updated.
  • If the automatic renewal isn't successful, or the credit card or bank account on file is outdated.
  • Intuit is having trouble getting authorization with your payroll billing information.
  • You're using an incorrect Payroll tax table version.

These are the factors that can affect the payroll calculation.

If you've verified that all details mentioned above are already updated, you may see this link for more fixes on different payroll alerts in QuickBooks Desktop: Update or renew your subscription.

Otherwise, if the issue persists after performing the steps presented, I recommend contacting our Customer Care Team. They have tools that can access your account and help determine the root cause of this matter.

To reach them:

  1. Go to the Help menu.
  2. Choose QuickBooks Desktop Help.
  3. Tap the Contact us button.

You can also scan through these links about dealing with incorrect payroll tax calculation and reverting paychecks in the program for reference:
