payroll

I have paychecks that I hadn't put into the QB Online payroll.. and now it won't let me put it in manually so that my year end numbers are correct, and I can run W-2s.  Does anyone know if I can manually enter a check ???   I do not use Quickbooks online. I have the desktop version.

I'm glad you came to the Community with your concern, BWF31.

Using the new QuickBooks version's Help option, you can manually enter payroll. Here's how to go about it:

  1. Open the Help menu. Then, select QuickBooks Desktop Help.
  2. From the search field, enter Manual Payroll and hit Enter.
  3. Hit the Calculate payroll taxes manually (without a subscription to QuickBooks Desktop Payroll) link.
  4. From the Set your company file to use the manual payroll calculations setting section, hit the manual payroll calculations link.
  5. Hit the Set my company file to use manual calculations link.

I am trying to enter the manual payroll into the new QB Online Payroll.   I do NOT use QB online.  I have the desktop version.   I use Payroll to calculate my taxes, and enter it into my desktop version of QB separately.    I didn't get my October checks entered into QB payroll, and it doesn't allow me to put them in manually.     Now the W-2's are not correct.  It is missing a month of payroll....

Hi there, @BWF31

Thanks for visiting the Intuit Community. I want to make sure this is taken care of.

You can't create a check with a date in the past. The only available check dates are dates that fall after your last check date and before your next payday.

I suggest contacting our Payroll Support Team. They have special tools like screen sharing so they can take a closer look at your issue and assist you with making payroll corrections.

Here's how to reach them:

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Online company.
  2. Select Help at the top right.
  3. Select Contact Us to connect with a live agent.
  4. Enter your concern.
  5. Click the Green Phone button to get the phone number.
