I use Quickbooks desktop and used to be able to e-mail check stub to employee. Now it prompts for a password, which appears to be the organizations password, I put in the correct PW and the payroll program just keeps coming back to the same screen for e-mail password. I'm able to print a pdf and manually mail, but the automatic e-mail from payroll program was much easier. I've tried several options to fix but hasn't worked.
I can see the urgency in resolving this issue about emailing your pay stubs to your employees. @Mrbdfw. Let me share some information on fixing this.
When you notice that QuickBooks won't accept the password when you use email services like Gmail or Yahoo! Mail, you can perform the procedures below.
First, let's ensure you're using the latest version of QuickBooks Desktop. You can email a test transaction to yourself to check if the issue is resolved. If the issue persists, we can proceed with reviewing the email settings. You can follow the steps below for your email services.
Gmail
You can check your app preference since it may be blocking the connection to your Google account.
You can also turn off the 2-Step Verification feature for your Gmail account if you still can't send emails.
Yahoo! Mail
Since Yahoo! Mail uses a 2-step Verification. You can go ahead and review your security settings.
If you're still having trouble sending emails, use Yahoo's generate third-party app passwords tool. It creates a random password you can use to connect QuickBooks. You only need to do this once.
