SUMMER SAVINGS 90% OFF QuickBooks for 3 months* Ends June 27
Buy nowWe just recently migrated from Desktop to Online. In Desktop, we had it mapped out so that the total we paid our pastor would automatically print in Box 14 of his W2 along with a description of "Housing." I just noticed that QB has already automatically filed our W2s and W3 for 2024. I saw that the housing note and total was NOT printed in box 14. I was just told by the CSR on chat that QBO will not place any of that info in box 14. Is that correct?? Why in the world did I upgrade only to have less data!!!
I'll shed some light on your queries about the Clergy Housing in Box 14 of your W2 form, bclifton2.
QuickBooks will report these amounts on the pay stub and in Box 14 of your Form W-2 with "CLERGY HSG." No payroll taxes will be calculated concerning these amounts.
Since it has not been printed on your end, I recommend contacting our live support team. By doing so, they will be able to access your account securely and ensure the correction is made, especially since your payroll setup is automatic and you have completed filing.
Here's how:
Moreover, you can print your W-2 and W-3 forms and make corrections in QuickBooks even after filing.

I did contact Support via Chat. I printed a copy of the session. The CSR told me that while Desktop does have the capability of printing the clergy housing in box 14, QBO does not. So you are telling me that she gave me incorrect information?
I would like someone who knows how to correct this to contact me.
Allow me to clarify things for you, bclifton.
Although QuickBooks Online (QBO) shows the clergy housing details, as mentioned by my colleague above, it's subject to self-employed tax only and is exempt from income tax. That's the reason why the clergy housing is not printed on W-2's box 14.
Since your automated payroll tax filings and payments option is enabled, I recommend contacting our Customer Support Team again. This way, you can request a W-2c form so you can input a correction for the previously filed form to include the clergy data.
After that, run the Payroll Summary report to calculate the clergy value and use it as a reference in correcting the form. Since this procedure is complex and can affect the accuracy of your tax records, I suggest seeking guidance from an accounting professional. Then, submit the corrected form.
Moving forward, you can turn off automated payroll tax settings so you can manage your W-2s manually with guidance from an accountant or tax professional. Here's how to switch it off:
