I'm a Recovery Startup business so I need the box on Line 18b checked. I opened a case 15 days ago to have this box checked and nobody knows how to get it checked. Outside of cancelling my services and manually filing the 941 are there any other workaround options?
I have tried the support line 10+ times and nobody can help and I'm told the department that has the case can't be reached by customers or spoken with.
I was also told the turnaround time for tax forms is 20 days! Yikes. That is way too long considering the industry average is 48-72 hours.
I'll answer this query about Form 941 in QuickBooks Online (QBO) for you, @usermorgan1.
At this time, the available workaround is to file the form outside of QBO. This way, you can tick the box for Line 18b. You can download a PDF file of this form from the IRS page. Additional details for this form are on this page: Instructions for Form 941.

So how do I ensure that QB does not file the form for me?
Making sure that you'll get the help you need! Allow me to share some information on how QuickBooks files the form, Texasdave.
A Payroll Assisted or Full-Service is a payroll management service that handles payroll taxes and filings for you. Whereas, if you're using QuickBooks Online Payroll (QBOP)Core, you'll have the option to let the system E-pay and e-file tax forms or manually do it with paper coupons. You'll want to select the Manually with paper coupon option if you want to file outside the system. This ensures that QuickBooks won't file the form for you. I've added a screenshot so you'll be guided visually:

No I missed the window and I believe the form was filed incorrectly. I allowed 20 days for them to check the box on line 18b, but checking the box proved to be too complicated. On multiple occasions I was asked "Are you a seasonal employer?" I told them no, that is line 18a and I'm a recovery startup business which is line 18b. Line 18b wasn't on the FAQs they operate off of though.
I have been hung up on multiple time because the service reps get frustrated and don't know how to help. I could really use some help outside of calling in or using chat. I'm desperate at this point.
Thanks for getting back here, @usermorgan1.

Thank you so much. Apparently the case is closed as of this morning and I asked if the box on line 18b was checked and I was told "I don't know". I also asked if I could get a copy of the 941 that was filed to ensure that box 18b was checked and I was told No. Any help is greatly appreciated.
I just need to know if I need to hire a CPA to amend at this point.
Thank you for the prompt reply, @usermorgan1.
