Direct Deposit into more than two accounts - UPDATE PLEASE

I have an employee who's been direct depositing into three accounts through our current payroll company. We are switching to QB Payroll, but it looks like QB payroll only allows direct deposits into two accounts. I saw an old thread from about 18 months ago with people requesting this feature (direct deposit into more than two accounts), but it appears it still isn't available. Is there a workaround for this? Will QB fix this feature soon? I hate to take away a benefit my employees have had just because I'm switching to QB payroll. Thanks!

Direct Deposit into more than two accounts - UPDATE PLEASE

Welcome to the Community forum, belindasray. I appreciate your input from every angle.

As of this time, the option to Direct Deposit payroll into more than two accounts is unavailable. You can choose to deposit into two accounts, either in amount or percentage in which the remainder will goes to the second account.

A suggestion like this helps us determine what enhancements and improvements are needed to make our product more effective and convenient to use. Enhancements to QuickBooks functionalities are largely the results of feedback provided by users, such as yourself.

There isn't a way to do this with QuickBooks alone.

If your bank will accept NACHA files from you, consider using our BRC Direct Deposit File Creator

It will let you send DD orders to up to 7 banks per paycheck or standard bank check (written to a vendor, for example.)

Direct Deposit into more than two accounts - UPDATE PLEASE

I use an Intuit form for our employees direct deposit. On the form it lists depositing to two accounts. Now you tell me I cannot do this in QuickBooks online. Crazy. I guess I will have to alter the form and not allow employees to have this option.

Thanks for getting in touch with us, @BethFL,

If you're using QuickBooks Online, you are able to use two employee accounts for Direct Deposit. To set them up, follow the steps and series of screenshots below:

  1. Go to the Payroll menu then Employees tab.
  2. Click the employee name then press Edit Employee.
  3. Scroll down to the bottom and find step 6, How do you want to pay [Employee Name].
  4. From the drop-down, choose Direct Deposit to two accounts.
  5. From there, you can enter the accounts an employee will want to use.

Direct Deposit into more than two accounts - UPDATE PLEASE

Hi Beth. My question was about depositing into MORE than two accounts in QB. Two accounts can definitely be done. My old payroll company didn't have limits, and we had an employee depositing into three different accounts. That's what I was hoping there was a way to do, but as of yet there isn't. Two, though, is fine.

Hi Beth. My question was about depositing into MORE than two accounts. Two can definitely be done.

My old payroll company had no limit, and we had an employee direct depositing into three different accounts. This is what I was hoping for, but as right now, two accounts is still the limit.

Hi Beth! Any info on updating QB Online to be able to direct deposit into more that two accounts?  This is beginning to frustrate my employees and will soon start us looking elsewhere for a payroll provider.

I would also like for QuickBooks to work for more than two accounts, txgatorboy1.

At this time, you can only use up to two employee accounts for Direct Deposit in QuickBooks Online (QBO). However, we don't stop working on what is good for the business and for our customers as well. You'll want to check out our QuickBooks Blog for any updates to stay current of QuickBooks innovation.

In the meantime, you can use two accounts for your payroll as provided by my colleague @Jen_D. This will be our closest alternative as of the moment.

Direct Deposit into more than two accounts - UPDATE PLEASE

there is a need for QuickBooks to allow more than two direct deposits per employee. We are in the process of switching to QuickBooks to and this is a major drawback for us as we have several employees that directly deposit into either three accounts. since receiving the feedback in June from the prior contributor, has QuickBooks started to enhance the product by allowing for more than two direct deposit? if no, are there any plans to do so?

I agree, an update is NEEDED. More than 2 direct deposits per employee should be permitted.

Is Quickbooks working on increasing the number of direct deposit accounts permitted? if no, are there any plans to do so?

Welcome to this conversation, @ID62. I understand the need to increase the number of direct deposit account in QuickBooks.

At this time, this is still under consideration. Also, we are unable to provide you with the turnaround time for this, but we hope to give you updates soon.

In the meantime, you can stay updated with our latest news and product enhancements in our QuickBooks Blog

This thread has been going on since June of 2020. By now, an update should already be into affect. Looks like a lot of people are disappointed in this and are possible looking into choosing another payroll provider. Just go ahead and make this happen.

Yeah, use BRC DD file creator... for a fee!  It already costs quite a bit to use QB.  Being able to split your DD into multiple accounts (more than the 2 times already offered) should not cost extra.  It should not be that big of a deal to add this option. It wasn't a big deal to add advertisements to QB.....

I agree.  With what is costs to even use QB, being able split a DD into multiple accounts should not be an issue.  I would imagine it is no more of a hassle to create/add this feature than it was to start adding those loan advertisements that are now on my QB payroll home page.

I too would like to see the more than two accounts feature implemented sooner, rather than later! The code is already there for the current two. It cannot be that complicated to add a couple more

Hello,

The QBO is asking to input a amount for the first account and the reminder amount of the paycheck goes to the second account.

Well, that is okay if the paycheck is a salary pay and the amount is the same each paycheck!

So, QBO should allow to put the exact amount the employee is asking on the choosing bank account and the remaining on the other account.  This does not work well for hourly employees. or am I missing something?

Kmccall

Direct Deposit into more than two accounts - UPDATE PLEASE

Easy to add the two accounts.  However, QBO is asking to enter the amount on the first account and the remaining amount left goes to the second account. This works well if it is a salary employee; not for an hourly employee. I want to set a exact amount deposit on the second direct deposit account for each pay.

It should be design to enter one amount for the second account and let the system compute the amount for the primary account.

I'm glad you reached out to us, Kmccall. I can share some information on how to update your Direct Deposit in QuickBooks Online.

QuickBooks Online allows you to set up a direct deposit account in each company file. That being said, yes, you can add two accounts to your employees using the split direct deposit. All you have to do is select the Direct Deposit box as the payment method.

To help you manage vendor or contractor information and direct deposit payment, you can check out these articles:

Direct Deposit into more than two accounts - UPDATE PLEASE

Greetings, @nabelekt.

Let me share some information about direct deposit to employee's multiple accounts.

Currently, the feature that you want which is to do a direct deposit to more than 2 accounts for employees is not yet available. QuickBooks can deposit to not more than 2 accounts. There is still no update for this feature to be added. Yet, we can't provide a timeframe on when is it going to be available.

I'm adding this article to guide you in setting up direct deposit for employees: Set up direct deposit for employees.
