Look under Payroll and File Forms tab down at the bottom of the screen under Other Activities and click Manage Filing Methods. It will go to your QB Payroll Setup. Select NC Form NC-3 and edit it from Print and Mail to E-file. Then when you look under File Forms, select State W-2s - NC and the E-file button will no longer be grayed out. Hope this helps! There are no registration steps on the NC website required.

Has anyone tried to efile W2 for 2022 for employees?

It wont work for me. Its grayed out. 

I want to ensure you can e-file your W2 form, @stacnjay.

To get this fix, we'll have to download the latest maintenance release of the desktop program to get the latest features, and improvements, as well as apply critical fixes. 

To do this, here's how:

1. Go to the Help menu at the top bar.
2. Choose Update QuickBooks Desktop.
3. Go to the Update Now tab.
4. Tick the Reset Update box to remove previously downloaded releases.
5. Click the Get Updates button and then press OK to continue.
6. Once done, close and reopen your QuickBooks to kick off the installation.

Once done, please make sure to download the latest payroll tax table to have an up-to-date, accurate rates and calculations for federal and supported state taxes, payroll tax forms, and e-file and e-pay options.

Did you do w2 transmittal way or the w2 efile only way? I have change the filing method.
