Enter employee address - wont let me change the sgtate

I am about to give up on quickbooks payroll. I am disappointed in the service, lack of assistance on weekends.

I need to enter an employee's W2 and address information.

Employee lives in stamford CT. Our company operates out of New York.

This sophisticated platform wont let me change the state from NY to CT so that i can enter his information so he can get paid.

Any one know how to do so?

I called quick books, no answer. I attempted with the chat service - not active on Sundays.

Please advise

Thank You

Hi there, @MoMak

Thanks for posting here in the Community. I'm here to help change your employee's address in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

To start off, may I know if you're receiving an error message when changing your employee's address? This will help me make sure that I can provide you with the best resolution. You can leave a comment below by clicking the Reply (green) button to add more details.

In the meantime, here's how to change or update an employee's details in QBO:

For QuickBooks Online Payroll Full Service:

1. Go to Workers menu at the left panel, then pick Employees.
2. Choose the name of the employee you want to update.
3. Select the Pencil icon beside Profile, then make the necessary changes.
4. Click Done.

I also attached some sample screenshots below.

For Intuit Full Service Payroll, go to Employees tab then follow the steps 2-4 above. You may check out this article for more information: Change Employee Details.

On the other hand, employee who works at a work location in a state outside your primary work-location state, your employee is subject to work-based taxes (such as state unemployment insurance) in that other work-location state, regardless of where your employee lives. To know more about the multistate employment payroll situations, you refer to this article for further guidance: About multistate employment payroll situations.

That should help you change your employee's address. But if you're getting the same results, let me know so I can get back to you right away. I'm only a post away if you have any follow-up concerns. I want to make sure this is fix.

My employee page doesn't look ANYTHING like your example. There is NO WHERE to update his email address, physical address, phone number, etc...

Our Payroll Support Team can help you update the employee's details, weinstallwire.

Based on your screenshot, I can see that you now have the current interface in the Payroll section. To edit the employee's personal information, please give us a call.

Here's how:

  1. Go to this link https://help.quickbooks.intuit.com/en_US/contact.
  2. Select QuickBooks Online.
  3. Click the Running your business in QuickBooks topic.
  4. Click the Employees sub-topic.
  5. Scroll down and click the Get Phone Number button.

Please let me know if you need anything else.

Enter employee address - wont let me change the sgtate

It is unacceptable that I have to waste time on the phone when in a few clicks I could change this information myself. Absolutely no excuse for this.

Enter employee address - wont let me change the sgtate

I spent 16 minutes on hold initially and after speaking with the representative for 10 minutes while making me install a program to my computer to view what I had already told him, was placed on hold again for another 18 minutes. It took a total of 44 minutes for me to update two email addresses. And you call this "full service"? I'd rather have "do it yourself" if this is the case. I'm very disappointed, to say the least. My time may not be valuable to Intuit, but it is very valuable to me. And I'm sure I won't be offered any compensation whatsoever as an apology.

Does this mean all users who have the old interface, will soon have an interface that does not allow the user to edit employee address?

Enter employee address - wont let me change the sgtate

Good day, @Malcolm Ziman.

Allow me to join this thread and provide some classifications about what my colleague is reffing to about this concern.

The customer is still on the setup phase that's why they don't have the option to enter an email address, phone number. Once the payroll account has been set up they would get an option to edit the information. However, in order to override the transactions, they will need to contact support since they are using full-service payroll.

Thanks for visiting us. Wishing you and your business continued success.
