EPAY IRS ISSUES

When I click to pay payroll liabililties, Fed w/holding, etc. All of a sudden it will not let me select E-pay.  I refuse at this time to pay for QBO to do my payroll for my employees.  What is the deal?

Hi there, da231.

Can you tell us what do you see or what happens when selecting the E-pay option? Can you also share a screenshot for us to make sure that we are giving you the right steps and information to sort this out.

Please add a reply below to share more details.

I'll ensure you can pay your payroll liabilities in no time,

da231.

You'll want to ensure you have an active payroll subscription to utilize the E-Payment option. Also, get the latest payroll tax table. These updates provide the most current and accurate rates and calculations for supported state and federal tax tables, payroll tax forms, e-file and payment options.

If you do yet, still having the same issue, you may have some data integrity issues with your company file that is causing you to no longer be able to use the E-payment feature. Let me show you the steps to repair potential data issues:

To verify:

  1. Go to the File menu and select Utilities.
  2. Select Verify Data, then click OK to close all windows.
  3. Once you’ve verified your data, you can rebuild your company file to fix any errors or data damage found.

To Rebuild:

  1. Go back to the File menu and select Utilities.
  2. Select Rebuild Data, then click OK to close all windows.

You can also see this article for the complete process: Verify and Rebuild Data in QuickBooks Desktop.

Moreover, if you need help viewing your payroll data, feel free to run any payroll report that suits your needs.

I'll be right here if you need more help managing your payroll in QuickBooks.

That solution did not work.   It is doing that in all of my companies.

I have moved my daily activities of these companies to QuickBooks Online.  I still need to do their payroll myself at this time.  Is that somehow causing the problem?

Moving daily activities to QuickBooks Online shouldn't cause issues when paying taxes in QuickBooks Desktop, da231.

Let's check again the payment schedule for your Federal taxes. You can toggle the payment method into check. This refreshes the setup which resolves unexpected issues when submitting returns.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Employees menu and select Payroll Center.
  2. From the Pay Liabilities tab, click on Change Payment Method.
  3. On the pop-up, click Continue.
  4. Select Check as the Payment (deposit) method. Click Next, and then tap Finish.

After that, go back and select E-pay as the payment method. Once done, let's attempt to pay your Federal taxes again.

If the issue persists, I recommend getting in touch with our QuickBooks Desktop Payroll Live Team. This way, they can check your account securely and investigate further the root cause of this issue.

If everything looks good and you're able to pay taxes, you can check the status of your payments. I'm adding this article for the steps: Check e-file or e-pay status in QuickBooks Desktop Payroll Enhanced.
