This is the impression we want you to experience with using QuickBooks Online (QBO), Jamesnillinc.
We can open multiple QBO windows by right-clicking the report, page, or tab. Then, choose the Open link in new tab or Open link in new window. Keep in mind that working in the same module like Payroll, Banking, or Taxes on more than one tab simultaneously may lead to one of the tabs being signed out.
To avoid this issue, you'll want to use the QuickBooks App for QBO. The app offers a multi-window mode that will allow you to multi-task in QBO without being repeatedly signed out. Just check out the Using Multiple Windows in QuickBooks link for the steps and details.
Visit our QBO Help Articles page for more insights about running your business in your account.

Yes, this is a bug that needs fixed immediately. I have been having major problems with this. Like loosing over an hours worth of work on an invoice just because I opened a new tab to check something else. I am very disgruntled with this problem. Quickbooks, please respond to this issue!
Please review your answer to the original question. There is a bug in the software when opening tabs. Unhappy user here. It is costing me precious time.
I understand that you're in a tough spot here, cdbaer.
Normally, your QuickBooks Online account shouldn't be logged out when opening a new tab in your browser. To isolate the issue, you can perform some basic troubleshooting steps. The accumulated cache and cookies could be the root cause of this unusual behavior.
You may start by signing in to your QBO account in a private or incognito window. This will help you rule in/out the browser as the culprit. Check out these shortcut keys:
Once you're in, click the Plus icon at the top of your browser to open a new tab. If it's now working well, go back to your regular browser and then clear its cache and cookies to start over fresh. You can also switch to other supported browsers as an alternative.
However, if the issue persists, I recommend contacting your technical supports. This way, we'll be able to look into your account in a safe environment and then conduct an investigation. Here's how:

I am having the same issue with Window desktop app. We don't want to work from multiple windows, we prefer the tab to go between invoices and customer information. We as in me and the original poster - I think we are in the same boat. Resetting app data and clearing cache is not helping. I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times. It is a hassle to switch between windows and, in my case, caused my computer processing to slow down by switching between windows. In one single app, the tabs worked great until recent. Please fix asap!
