Hello! I am the only employee on my one person LLC and I use QBO and the self-initiating payroll from

...intuit.

I normally pay myself on the 15th and end of month. I went to pay myself yesterday, on the 15th and QBO said I already paid myself. I know I didn't. It even shows a check to me for the exact amount.

I then went to my register and I see an entry there for the exact amount of my payroll with an "R" status. When i hold my mouse over it, the message comes up that says "Reconciled - Verified against your bank records as of a certain date."  Problem is I went to my online banking site and it doens't show that entry. oh there are previous ones and they are correct, but none for the middle of February.

It seems like QBO is entering things on it's own. I know that sure doens't sound right, but can anyone tell me what the hell is going on?  Have y'all seen something like this before?

I'll contact Support as soon as I can but they're closed today and I don't know if/when I'll get time this week.

Thanks in advance and sorry for the long story here.

That's okay, Bruce-derouen. It helped me fully understand your concern.

I've checked our records and haven't seen any cases similar to yours. We can check the Audit Log. This report keeps track of the activities made in QuickBooks Online and that includes who creates the transaction. Here's how:

  1. Click the Gear icon.
  2. Select Audit Log.

Here's how it looks like:

I'll share the reference on how to use the audit log in QuickBooks Online for more information.

If you want to get in touch with a live agent, you can check our support hours and types

You can get back to us after checking the report. We're just right here to help you out.

I do not have an answer for you but do want to make sure you understand the law regarding self-employment in your LLC. You can ONLY be your own employee IF your LLC has elected to be taxed as a Subchapter S Corporation. Otherwise, no matter how many or few members there are in your LLC no member can be on payroll as their profit is passed through.   Thus, if not electing S-tax status you are wasting your money on a payroll program that is absolutely wrong for you to use.

Thank you for the response but yes, I'm well aware that. I've been doing this for about 2 years now.

I figured out what the problem was. I just haven't been able to see how to close or delete this thread.

Thank you for the reply Kristi. As it turns out, it seemed to be a problem with a wrong date on a previous payroll. I'm not sure how that happened but at any rate, I figured out what the problem was and have it resolved.
