How do I get rid of the task messages on my dashboard after a CPA did my company's 1099s and W2s using their software?

Thank you for posting in the Community. I'd be glad to assist you to get rid of the task messages on your Dashboard in QuickBooks Online. 

 

Since the forms were filed outside QuickBooks, you can remove the reminder on the Dashboard by archiving them.  Here's how to archive the W-3 and W-2, Copies B, C & 2.

  1. On the left pane, select Taxes.
  2. At the top left, select the Payroll tab.
  3. Under Forms, select Annual Forms.
  4. Select the form.
  5. Select Archive.

To remove the reminder for 1099 and W-2, Copies A & D, I recommend calling our Payroll Support to assist you further. They have the tools to check your account and remove the payroll task forms for you.

 

Here's how you can reach them: 

  1. Go to http://payroll.intuit.com/support/contact/.
  2. At the top right, select your Payroll Subscription type.
  3. Under Free Live Help, you'll see their contact information.

That should get you back on track.

Thank you for our information, however, I still have W2, Copies A & D year 2018 and MS 89-140(2018)

No option to archive these two items, options available are view and submit.

Forms like 1099, W-2 copies A & D and MS 89-140 can't be archived using this process. I suggest calling our Payroll Support to remove the payroll task forms for you.

I've spent over three hours on the phone with support and they tell me they no longer have the capability to dismiss the W-2 copies A&D alert because my accountant files it for me outside of Quickbooks. In years past, they've been able to do it. How can I make the message go away now?

Since we won't be able to archive the W-2 copies A & D form, you can consider filing it inside QuickBooks to get rid of the payroll task forms. Let me guide you through the steps.

 

  1. Go to Taxes and choose Payroll Tax.
  2. Under Forms, click on the Annual Forms link and select W-2, Copies A & D.
  3. If prompted, verify your tax codes and select Continue.
  4. If prompted, tell us whether or not one or more employees were active participants in a retirement plan during the tax year.
  5. On the Employer Copies: Form W-2 page, select View to open Acrobat Reader. Review and print Copy D (Employer's copy) for your records. When you're ready, click on Submit to authorize us to file Copy A of Form W-2 electronically for you. Note: Do not send a printout of Form W-2 to the Social Security Administration.

Also, please know that this payroll task will automatically be removed after the filing due date.

Unfortunately, I tried this solution two years ago, and it resulted in my W-2s being filed twice with the IRS, causing them to send me a notice about duplicate filings. It was a headache to resolve, so I will not make that mistake again. And the payroll task is now marked as overdue — six days past the filing date — so it's not being removed automatically from my dashboard. Any other ideas?

The only way to remove the task reminder is to archive the form, csks.

 

I acknowledged that you've already tried this to no avail. Other users did this as well.

 

Also, I know that you've already contacted our Support. However, I would recommend calling them back, so they can take this into a different level. I won't be able to do that task from here since it would require to get your company information and a snippet of your setup, which we're discouraged to do so for security reasons.
