To start, let's perform some troubleshooting steps to fix this. There are times that the browser is full of frequently accessed page resources, which causes some errors or unusual responses. Let's start accessing your account using a different or a private browser. You can use either of these shortcut keys:

 

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl Shift N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl Shift P
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl Shift P
  • Safari: Command Shift N

 

Once you have successfully added a hire date, go back to your regular browser and clear its cache. This is done to speed up the process next time you do a transaction in QuickBooks Online. Also, an alternative way is to use other compatible browsers.

Since the troubleshooting steps provided didn't fix the issue, it would be best to contact our Payroll Support team. They have enough tools to determine the root cause of the issue and provide more solutions. They can also perform further investigation about it if need be.


Here’s how you do it:

 

  1. Log in to your QuickBooks Online account.
  2. Select the Help (?) menu.
  3. In the Assistant window, type in “Talk to a human” in the field.
  4. Enter “Can’t add a hire date to an employee's profile,” then go to the Contact option.
  5. Choose a way to connect with us:
    • Start a chat with a support representative
    • Get a callback from the next available expert
