I see this is your first question so let me take the time to welcome you here to the Intuit community, @Anonymous.
I'm here to share some information about entering State ID in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
Currently, QBO doesn't have the option to enter the State ID. You can only enter Tax ID/Business ID through the Vendor Details. Here's how:
1. Go to Expenses menu on the left panel, then Vendor.
2. Select a vendor, then on the Vendor Details tab, click Edit.
3. Enter the Tax ID/Business ID on the Business ID No. box, then Save.

I can see how a built-in feature would be helpful for you and your business and I encourage you to submit feedback. These requests and suggestions are forwarded to the Product Development Team for consideration in future updates. You can submit this from within QuickBooks Online by selecting the Gear icon and Feedback or by going to the following link: QuickBooks Online Feature Requests. I'm going to submit feedback from my side as well.
That should answer your concern for today. Please don't hesitate to post again or leave a comment if you have any additional questions. Take care and have a great day!
Sorry to say but the answer to the question is absolutely ridiculous. A single-sentence answer would have sufficed: there is no facility in QB to enter the state information - period. Own company information has nothing whatsoever to do with that company's vendors.
Almost everyone knows that a company is registered in a particular state first! The state assigns to the registering entity its own legal and tax filing number. A company can be an S corp for state tax purposes but a C corp for federal tax purposes. An LLC can be a partnership for state taxes but an S corp for federal taxes - and still legally can operate as an LLC through a member-managed or a manager-managed operating agreement.
QB should have the state information, at least for reference purposes.
I'll provide an answer to your question, Entmas.
Before diving in, let me clarify one thing. Are you referring to EIN or State tax registration? If so, I'll show you how to enter it. To access the Payroll Settings, simply follow these steps:
