I need to write a check (direct deposit) for another employee - after last Friday's regular payroll run. How do I initiate the extra payment?

I need to write a check (direct deposit) for another employee - after last Friday's regular payroll run. How do I initiate the extra payment?

QuickBooks Online (QBO) has the option to generate an unscheduled paycheck for compensating an employee outside of their usual payment schedule. I'll guide you on how to do it.

 

  1. Go to the Payroll menu, then select Employees.
  2. Click Run Payroll.
  3. Find the employee you want to pay, then select Create another check.
  4. Enter the hourly or salary compensation.
  5. Make sure to select the correct pay period and check date.
  6. Select Preview Payroll, and click Submit Payroll.
