Payroll Reports

Quickbooks has made several changes with formatting in payroll lately, including the reports.  They have changed the report I used to sort my employees alphabetically by first name.  I direct deposit employee net amounts into another bank by first name.  This has really put a kink in my payroll procedure.  Anybody have any ideas?  It's not user friendly anymore.  I have to type everyone's name in alphabetical order by first name to be able to direct deposit now.  So angry about this.  This has slowed me down.  Can we never leave well enough alone???

Payroll Reports

I can imagine what you must be going through, Hrstar.

Let me make it up to you by making sure this gets resolved.

Beforehand, may I know what specific payroll report you're running? This way, we'll be able to check the main cause of this.

If you’re running the Employee Details and Employee Directory Reports, the workers’ information is arranged by their first and last names. I'd recommend accessing your report via a private window to determine if this a browser-related issue. Here are the keyboard shortcuts:

  • Safari: Command + Shift + N
  • Google Chrome: CTRL + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox or Microsoft Edge: CTRL + Shift + N

Once logged in, try running the report. If it works, let's clear the browser's cache to ensure the program performs efficiently. Otherwise, you can use other supported browsers. They also provide the best and most secure experience with QuickBooks.

In the meantime, you can export the report to Excel and manually update the order correctly:

  1. Go to the Reports menu.
  2. Type the report name in the search field.
  3. Click the Share drop-down in the upper right to choose Export to Excel.

Additionally, I’m adding an article that contains resources that will guide you on how to run and manage your reports, please see the following guide: View and Print Payroll Reports.

Please let me know if there's any other way I can be of assistance. As always, I'm just a few clicks away for help. Have a great day ahead.

Payroll Reports

Greetings:

I am using the Payroll Summary Report that is produced each time I do payroll.  I need the current Net pay to deposit into our bank by each employee sorted by first name (Not last name).

Thank you,

Payroll Reports

Hi there, Hrstar.

I'll share some information on how you can sort the employee's information by their first name when running Payroll Summary.

The option to sort by first name when running the Payroll Summary report isn't available in  QuickBooks Online (QBO). As a workaround, you can export the report to Excel and manually rearrange its columns.

You can follow the steps provided by my colleague @ACH_22 on how to export reports to Excel. I've added screenshots for your reference.

I can see that this would be a great feature for the program. I'd recommend sending feedback to our Product Development Team. They'll see your recommendation and may consider it for future updates.

Here's how:

  1. Select the Gear icon at the top, then Feedback.
    Capture.JPG
  2. Enter your comments or product suggestions then select Next.
  3. You'll be provided a list of suggested Help articles related to your comment. You can read through them or select Skip and send a message.
  4. From the drop-down, choose the appropriate category, then select Send a message.

I've added this article to learn more about personalizing your reports, please see these resources:
