QB Payroll Core: "Error while exporting transactions. Please try again later."

This is an example of the utter incompetence displayed by the support team and underlies the frustration we all feel dealing with them.  HE SAID HE HAS QBO, yet you gave a tutorial on Quickbooks Desktop.

Are you joking?  Where did you see that my issue was resolved?   I still cannot export due to the error message, for weeks now QuickBooks has blown me off.  And the fast that you, “Moderator”, didn’t care enough to actually read what’s going on before you excitedly closed the issue is right in line with the abysmally bad service QuickBooks gives across the board.   You are pathetic.

There is no “sign into QBO again” option that I can see.  Could you explain again?

We use Quickbooks Online not Desktop. We still have the issue (since November) and told engineering is working on it. Four months now and counting...

Here is what I tried and it worked. I hope it works for you as well.

1) Go to Gear > Payroll Settings > Export

2) Click "Turn off export" and select None and continue

3) Go back to Edit Export settings and then choose the program you want to export to. (I chose QB Online) and press continue

4) You should see this header "Set up QuickBooks Online to sync with your payroll account" You will be prompted to log in to sync the export with your choice. Click Sign In after entering your password.

5) You will now see a header that includes the title Actions. Press the "Select" hyperlink.

6) You should now see your linked account and your export preferences. Press Done after you have reviewed your preferences.

7) Try your export again.

I'm not an expert, just a user, but this worked for me.

Unfortunately the Payroll Settings option when I click on the Gear is now gone? When I clicked on Payroll Settings in the past ** while getting the Error Message: Error While Exporting Transactions. Please try again later. ** the screen would go blank. Each payroll week I try Chrome (Window and Incognito Window) and Safari (Window and Private Window), I try clearing History and Cache. Nothing allows me to export Payroll Transactions from QB Payroll to QB Online. We did not have this issue with Intuit Payroll. No updates from Payroll Support - is any one still working on this issue? I continue to enter manually in QB Online each payroll week.

I am having the same issue.  It has been over 3 weeks with no end in sight.  Every day I log on and either chat or speak with someone and I get the same run around each time.  All I get is the engineers are working on it and will email you when it is fixed.  I can't even run payroll.  I have to calculate, handwrite every single pay check.  Which I am doing because I was informed that is how I have to do it but now I have to send the info so Quickbooks can start a escalated correction & amendments issue and send it to that team.  I am one my third week of handwritten checks.  We are in our super busy season and I am the only one in the office, so can you imagine the issues I have going on?

But 4 weeks without a payroll system is unacceptable.  Handwriting payroll checks as I was informed to do for the last 3 weeks and now that info has to be sent to another quickbooks team to enter the info, I was informed takes another 30-40 days. Hum....and we get hit with penalties and interest because the payroll taxes are not pair on time.  Like I said, unacceptable.

I've had this exporting error since SEPTEMBER. I've had so much contact with customer service that I can probably dictate the script and "troubleshooting..." Anyway, in case it helps--

I changed my export settings to QuickBooks Desktop, which creates an IIF file I can open in Excel when I export. Then, I can manually enter new checks into QuickBooks Online for every pay check and tax payment, using the information from that file. It still takes SO MUCH TIME OMG HOW HAS INTUIT NOT FIXED THIS, but allows me to run payroll normally and make tax payments, at least.

Still not fixed.

Around and around we go! Seems like I shouldn't need to waste another 2-3 hours on customer service AGAIN, just to use the normal functions of a service I pay for, but here we are. At least I'm not surprised anymore!

I hate that this happened, fparent.

I understand that every time you've called, all you've heard is that we're working on it is true. This is because we still have an ongoing issue with the error message you encounter while exporting transactions in QuickBooks Online.

The problem has been brought to the attention of our engineers, and they are currently prioritizing and investigating it. Although this is being actively looked at, we don't have an estimated time frame when this will be fixed. I encourage you to contact again our QuickBooks Online Support if you have not yet been added to the list of affected users. This way, you'll be notified when the issue has been resolved. Please follow the steps provided by my colleague GebelAlainaM to reach them.

This is completely unacceptable that we are paying to export payroll data into QBO and we are unable to do so.  I received a credit today on my payroll core account but no solution to the problem.  All the same run around stated in the thread is 100% accurate.  Honestly, if intuit cannot support the product they should not be selling it to customers.

It's been ten months. Ten months since this started. Twice I've been notified that it was fixed when it wasn't, which knocked me off the affected-user notifications.

Meanwhile, QuickBooks keeps showing me "new features." I just want the basic ones I pay for to work.

Hi there, @Fourty6.

It isn't the kind of experience we'd want you to have when using our programs. I want to ensure you can get through this. With that said, I'd recommend contacting our Customer Care Team. This way, they can access your account in a secure environment and proceed to conduct further investigation to determine the root cause of the issue. I'll write down the steps to get you going:

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Online company.
  2. Go to Help (?).
  3. Select Contact Us.
  4. Enter your concern, then select Let's talk.
  5. Choose a way to connect with us:
  • Start a chat with a support expert.
  • Get a callback from the next available expert.

For more details, please see this article: Contact Payroll Support.

In addition, here's an article to help you ensure your data stays accurate inside QBO: Run reports in QuickBooks Online.

@Fourty6, please keep me posted on how it goes. I'll be here to provide further assistance if needed. Take care, and have a nice day!

Online payroll lost sync with our Quickbooks online account. Again. This happens EVERY single time you make changes or updates to improve your system. It never improves, there are always bugs and kinks to work out, AND your annual rate as well as your monthly surcharge continues to increase. Every time I call Intuit to help me troubleshoot, it is a minimum of a 3 hour conversation, to no resolve, other than, "this is a known problem by our Engineering Department, we appreciate your patience." This is absolutely unacceptable and frustrating to be paying a higher premium for a poorer and poorer product with no technical support. I am actively looking to take our business elsewhere.

Nicki

Boy do I feel your pain.  My issue never did get resolved.  For over two months I was paying for their service & was calculating payroll manual along with handwriting all of the payroll checks.  I had a mess.  To this day it never was resolved so I moved on.  I had to unfortunately, had no other choice.  Every time I called they could not fix nor help me.  So so sad.

Vicki,

May I ask, did you move your service? If so, where to, and are you happy with them?

VickiA

Nickie,

Yes I did move on.  I went with ADP.  They helped me through the mess I had my manual payroll I had to run for over two months.  I am very pleased with them.  I had one small hick up and they had it fixed within 10 minutes along with two call backs to make sure I was happy & all issues were resolved.

I hope that helps & I am so sorry you are going through your issues.

Take care,

Vicki
