Quickbooks desktop Payroll Service Key, EIN issues

I need the desktop payroll service key, it was NOT EMAILED to me. So I went to the online log in for the desktop version where is shows that I have paid for the payroll option and to view the details it asks for the EIN. I enter the EIN and it tells me its not the EIN on file. However it matches the EIN on quickbooks desktop. I am INCREDIBLY frustrated right now. There is no phone number to call. When I click on contact us under help in QB desktop it freezes and I cannot type a question. I do not know where else to ask this or where to go from here. So do not tell me to contact someone this way, it will not work.

We don't want you to feel that way. I understand you to activate your payroll subscription so let me help you.

 

The service key should be emailed to you if it was purchased from Intuit. I recommend checking the junk or spam folder to see if it was saved from there.

 

In addition, please update your QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release to fix the freezing issue. Here's another way in reaching out to our Support Team.

  1. Go to https://help.quickbooks.intuit.com/en_US/contact.
  2. Select QuickBooks Desktop, then which edition you're using.
  3. Enter "Activate Payroll" in the question field, the Continue.
  4. Choose how would you like to connect with them. Select either Chat or Callback.

 

If you purchased it from a retail store, the service key usually can be found on the box. Here are the articles that outline the instructions in activating payroll subscription:

 

Once everything's good, you're now ready to start setting up payroll in QuickBooks Desktop.

The same exact thing is happening to me today now as well. I put in my credit card info to re-activate and never got a Key Code emailed to me and now it can't verify my account and says my EIN is wrong.

This is ridiculous and obviously a flaw in the system that needs to be fixed.  Was your issue resolved and if so how? I check my spam folders and nope, no emailed keys.

I understand how you feel about not getting your payroll subscription numbers. To help you check this further, I recommend getting in touch with our QuickBooks Payroll Support, so they can check this information for you. They are available on weekdays from 6 AM to 6 PM PT.

 

  1. Open QuickBooks.
  2. Go to Help, then select QuickBooks Desktop Help/Contact Us.
  3. Select Contact Us.
  4. Give a brief description of your issue, then select Continue.
  5. Sign in to your Intuit account and select Continue and then Continue with my account.
  6. We'll email you a single use code. Enter your code and select Continue.
  7. Select to chat with us or Have us call you.
