Quickbooks Pro Timer for QBDT 2022

What happened to the following in QBDT 2022?:

File/Utilities/Import/Import Timer Activities

File/Utilities/Export/Export Timer Lists

When I upgraded to QBDT Pro Plus 2022 (October 15, 2021), it was there for my last payroll and billing cycle (October 18, 2021) but has since loaded updates that removed these options.

Please put it back!  I rely on Quickbooks Pro Timer for all my employees timesheets and for billing all my customers/clients.

Your experts could only tell me to revert back to QBDT Pro Plus 2021, but that is not an option since I already paid employees and filed withholding taxes in 2022.  It cannot go back to an older version and it creates numerous issues with payroll and taxes.

This is an easy fix on Intuit's part: PUT IT BACK, PLEASE!

Hello Blaes, did you find a solution in order to import your iif file?  I  too have this issue.  Will you share changes you had to make to the IIF file and your new header lines if they changed.  Do you still use the !TimerHDR and !TimeACT lines?

Thank you so much

@20yruser

You may utilize an importer tool.

what importer tool?  I already have the data in excel spreadsheets and iif files - its from all of 2021.  I dont want to manually enter again into another software.  thats way too much reentry.  I can do that going forward, but I need to import my data.

This is still a problem (May 2022).

We've used QB timer since 2003, never had a problem until today. I went to "File/Utilities/Import" and there's no longer a selection "Import Timer Activities", only "Import IIF Files". So, I clicked on "Import IIF files" and got a message that there were, for the first time since 2003, errors in the IIF file.

So, I selected the "Import Without Review", which is supposedly an option, and got ANOTHER error message, instructing me to go to "File/Timer Activities/Import Activities From Timer" which is terrific except for the fact that under "File" these options don't exist.

I think Intuit wants to force us to "upgrade" to their $20 + $8/employee/month option, which isn't an option.

I have this issue as well. I went to import my own billing time and there was no option in the 2022. So now all my clients are in 2022 and I have to revert to using 2021. Why do they keep changing things without at least putting a survey out to Proadvisor’s. Why are we here. They seem to think the world revolves around qbo. Wake up call, it does not!

Maria,

This issue has been brought up in early 2021 and now is 2023!

Are there any developers in Intuit left or have they all been reassigned to look for other ways to remove existing features and require more subscriptions in the next "upgrade"?

I looked into this and see that the Quickbooks Pro Timer app has not been updated since 2013.  What Intuit may not realize is that it has worked flawlessly as last written in 2013 with each successive version of Quickbooks Desktop through v2020.    I'm holding off on upgrading the Quickbooks Desktop version beyond 2020 until Intuit includes support for time imports from the Quickbooks Pro Timer app.   Ideally, Intuit will also update the Quickbooks Pro Timer app as well for better compatibility with newer operating systems.

Which is why I have not upgraded my QuickBooks for the past two years. Any suggestions for a local timer program that works well with QBs desktop? The old QBDT is also not compatible with 1920 X 1080 resolution, so I have to make my secondary monitor my primary monitor.

We appreciate you for joining the thread, @paulmetz. I'll direct you to the app store for you to check on the best application.

While I am unable to offer any recommendations for a local timer program that integrates effectively with QuickBooks Desktop, you might want to check out our marketplace for that. From there, you can browse all of the apps that can be integrated with your desktop. Let me guide you through this:

  1. Log on to the marketplace using this link: https://desktop.apps.com/home.
  2. From the Search box, type in a keyword like "local timer". then Enter.
  3. Review the apps available, then click on them to open.
  4. If you like the app, click on Learn more.

Feel free to also visit the QuickBooks Help page for some helpful articles and video tutorials on handling payroll.

Were you able to solve the issue of importing iif file created by consolidating  protimer files?

I have just upgraded to 2023 Enterprise and now can't downgrade to 2020 files. It's very frustrating and I don't know how to go forward except pay more money to get time tracking option from the quickbooks. I have an Enterprise standard and pay more than $2k for just updates and latest version which I don't upgrade every year due to the same reason.

Is there a way to go around the normal practice and be able to import our timer activities using iif files?

Under utilities, I also don't like that the web connect files don't show any of the iif files we used to save and upload in Quickbooks.

Any solution to this problem?

This isn't the expression we want you to have, @SBSZ.

Let me provide information about the Timer Activity feature in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

Currently, this option is no longer available in the program. However, you'll want to check out our Marketplace website. You can scan through the site to get a better comparison of the available apps to achieve your goal.

There are some applications you can integrate with QuickBooks Desktop that help you import the data manually by using another tool or time-tracking app. Before subscribing to any service, I suggest reading some reviews online or trying their trial options available to ensure that you'll find all of the features you need.

In addition, here's a reference that you can browse to learn what are the things that you import or export in the program: Import and export data in QuickBooks Desktop.

I found a 3rd party tool for importing timer data that works - it might take a little learning curve.  I'm using it now.
