Rehiring an employee

I’ll guide you through the process of how to rehire your employee. Let’s go to the Employment section to set the status to Active.


Here’s how:

 

  1. Tap the Payroll menu on the left panel to choose Employees.
  2. Press the All Employees drop-down to select Inactive Employees.
  3. From the list, click on the worker’s name to view more details.
  4. Next, click the Pencil icon for Employment.rehire.png
  5. Press the Pencil icon for Status and choose Active.rehire.1.png
  6. Make sure to enter the correct information in the Hire date box.
  7. Click Done to keep the changes.

Hello. I am using QuickBooks Online and we have re-hired an employee. 

 

we wanted to change his hire date to re-hire date however, can we keep the original hire date? how can our records show he's a re-hire?

In QuickBooks Online (QBO), when you rehire an employee and update their hire date, the system automatically records the new date, as it is not possible to keep both the original and the rehire date on file. This ensures the accuracy of the employee's record.

 

As an alternative, you can create two employee profiles for the same individual, then add a number 2 to the other profile name. This method allows you to differentiate between the two profiles and maintain accurate data for the employee.
