Running QB Desktop 2017 / Manual Payroll

I am running QB Desktop 2017 with manual payroll. I do not download transactions or use accept QB payments or any advanced features. However, I do run manual payroll. Will still be able to do this after the May 30th upgrade deadline?

PS: Due to the current COVID-19 issue I cannot afford the upgrade at this time.

Running QB Desktop 2017 / Manual Payroll

Hi there pettyc. My mistake for misunderstanding. Thanks for coming back though and to answer your question, Yes you can run checks in this manner. However, as you already know you will have to do the taxes manually. Since this is a feature you're already familiar with, I won't go into the details of how to perform that task.

If you do end up needing something else, I'm always here to help. Regarding the discontinuation of support or anything else then just let me know and I'll be happy to further assist you.

Hi there pettyc. I'm glad to see you in the QuickBooks Community. Unfortunately though, whenever discontinuation occurs payroll is considered an add-on to QuickBooks Desktop and will no longer function. I know it can be inconvenient to have to upgrade your QuickBooks Desktop software without expecting it.

However, to ensure everyone receives the best service possible discontinuation necessary as it is a balancing act - making QuickBooks Desktop better and easier to use, while still supporting all the older versions.

If you need any more information about the discontinuation, check out our QuickBooks Desktop service discontinuation policy and upgrade information article, if you scroll down and expand the list of the affected services, you will see all the services that will no longer be usable.

Or, if you have any other questions, feel free to leave a reply below and I'll get back with you. Have a good day.

Running QB Desktop 2017 / Manual Payroll

Thank you for your response but these are desperate times.  I am using the manual payroll option which allows me to print pay checks but I have to enter the deductions manually. Are you sure this feature will be disabled?  Im asking because I read the support page and it says

Q: After May 31, 2020 will I still be able to print paychecks

A:Yes, although this is NOT ADVISABLE. Your paycheck calculations will be incorrect due to certain tax calculations being zeroed out. To keep your paycheck calculations correct, upgrade and register a newer version of QuickBooks.

Since I am entering the deductions I am hoping I can delay upgrading for a while.  Please help.
