state quarterlies efile not going through

I'm getting an error message that says I need to run payroll update. I have done that but my state efile will still not go through. It just keeps telling me I need to to run payroll update. I've ran that update several times and can not get these efiles done.

To get started, let's make sure that your QuickBooks is on the latest maintenance release. Just follow the instructions provided in this article on how to do it: Update QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release. Then download the latest payroll update

Hi Grace, thank you. I ended up in support chat directly through quickbooks. What solved my problem was running payroll updates, but this time checking the box to "reset updates" and then updating. Worked fine after that.

Allow me to join this thread to provide fixes on e-filing state forms in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), @DGW12.

 

What are you referring to when saying you're unable to see the comments? Do you mean the error message appears during e-filing your state quarterly forms? If so, let's update your company file to the latest release to install the latest updates and fixes.

 

To rectify your concern about e-filing forms, we can get the latest payroll updates to streamline employee payments, maintain accurate records, and reduce the risk of errors. Please see these guidelines to do so:

 

  1.  Go to the Employees menu, then select Get Payroll Updates.
  2. Click the Download Entire Update checkbox.
  3. Select Update. An informational window appears when the download is complete.

 

Moreover, get updated on payroll news with the most current and accurate rates and calculations for supported state and federal tax tables, payroll tax forms, and e-file and pay options.

 

On the other hand, if you're not seeing the comments or resolutions shared in the Community, we can troubleshoot your web browser for the best experience. To begin, you can clear your browser's cache to improve your web experience and eliminate malfunctions. You can also switch to another browser to access the Community space.
