This is my first year in which I had quickbooks handle and send w2's to employees. Is it normal that it shows sent on 1/11 and still not here on 1/27?

I'm pleased to share when employees will receive copies of their W-2s processed with QuickBooks Online.

 

W-2s are delivered to employees depending on the payroll tax setup.

 

When automated taxes and forms are turned on, employees who opted for a mailed copy will receive it by January 16 to 31. This will be forwarded to their home addresses through the United States Postal Service (USPS). Rest assured that it will be delivered within these dates, before the deadline.

 

However, you'll need to print and send W-2s to your employees that you must postmark by January 31 if automated taxes and forms are turned off.

I understand that you state they will be postmarked and out before  January 31, but why does the system show that they were sent on the 11th. When the system shows a date they were sent, it should be that date and not between the 16 and the 31st. This is my first year with quickbooks sending them out, and never have the employees received them this late, so I am getting questions. I I told them that per the system they were sent the 11th and now I find that, that is not the case. I not so sure I will rely on quickbooks to send them.

The date on your system shows – that January 11th was the date you sent the W2s using your QuickBooks Online (QBO) to the Social Security Administration (SSA), while the employee's copy will be sent out from the 16th to 31st of January if you have turned on the automated taxes and forms like what my previous colleague has discussed above.
