Is anyone else having issues with QuickBooks Online Payroll not correcting W2s that they prepared incorrectly?
I submitted a ticket on 2/11/2021. I've uploaded ALL documents requested, have clear detail of what they did incorrectly, and am only getting the run around. Apparently the case is still open, but they are not doing any corrections to the incorrect W2s (and other payroll tax returns).
Over 15 hours either on hold or on the phone with various representatives, months of waiting, to be told today the only thing we can do is to start from scratch with a new ticket. It's absolutely ridiculous. A 5-minute phone call with someone in the tax department who knows payroll taxes would clear this up.
I'm curious if this is isolated to just us.
I can see the need to get this resolved, Tikipad2003. Allow me to help you get pointed to the right support.
I'd like to check this for you and get it taken care of myself. However, the Community can provide answers and troubleshooting solutions to certain questions, there are things that only our phone support can do to resolve the problem.
I know you've already called in, however, all corrections on W-2s needs the assistance of our Payroll Specialists as they have full access to review the ticket you've submitted and help you determine what's causing this issue.
To ensure we assist you on time, our Support Team is available from 6:00 AM until 6:00 PM from Mondays to Fridays. Here's how to contact us:
1. Click the Help (?) icon.
2. Choose Contact Us.
3. Enter a brief description of your situation in the What can we help you with? area, then click Let's talk.
4. You'll be presented with a few options for connecting with Intuit. Select Get a call.
I'm including these articles to know what forms we file for you and ways to access and pay them:
Access payroll tax forms and tax payments.
Taxes and forms we file for you.
Please know that I'm just a post away if you have any other questions about W-2s or with other payroll-related concerns in QuickBooks. I'll be delighted to be your guide once more. Have a great day ahead.
I have already done what you have listed to contact support, but thanks for trying to help. And I am well aware of how to review tax filings prepared by QuickBooks Online Payroll service.
Unfortunately QuickBooks Support has told me the only thing I can do is wait 45-60 more days for the amendments. That is, if QuickBooks will actually amend the W2s to what they are supposed to be (said because I already waited 60 days the first time around!). No one at QuickBooks can even support the amounts that were included as wages on the W2s, as the W2s do not tie, no matter how you do the math, to the Payroll Earnings Reports.
BTW, the main issue is the reporting of 2% shareholder insurance. The amount of insurance paid by the company on behalf of the shareholders needs to be reported in all 3 wage boxes of the W2 because only the shareholder-employees receive the insurance benefit, no other employees.
The rule from IRS website:
Per IRS,these additional wages are not subject to Social Security, or Medicare (FICA), or Unemployment (FUTA) taxes IF the payments of premiums are made to or on behalf of an employee under a plan or system that makes provision for all or a class of employees.
Therefore if payments of premiums are NOT made to or on behalf of an employee under a plan or system that makes provision for all or a class of employees, wages ARE subject to Social Security, Medicare, and Unemployment taxes. I have verified this with our CPA and other CPAs.
I’m going through a similar situation. You are not the only one that’s been giving the run around. No one in customer service can get me through to the elusive team that handles the corrections. Hours on hold, have been given the wrong corrections.
