I'll work with you to resolve this payroll information error you have in QuickBooks Online (QBO) Payroll, @jessieclinetn-gm. This way, you can update your State Unemployment Insurance (SUI) tax in no time.
For the time being, I wasn't able to find any open investigation or reports related to SUI in QBO. Did you encounter a specific error while updating your SUI tax info? Any further details are helpful for me to provide an accurate resolution.
This SUI update error can sometimes be caused by the browser's overtime collection of data from frequent page visits. To isolate this matter, you can perform some troubleshooting steps.
You can start by pulling up your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account using a private browser (incognito). Here's how:
Once signed in, go to the Gear icon and select Payroll settings. Choose the state under the Taxes section, and then do the necessary updates from there. You can also refer to this article for the detailed steps: Update your State Unemployment Insurance (SUI) rate in QuickBooks or Intuit Payroll.
If you're able to do so, return to your default browser and clear its cache. This will refresh the system and remove older data that causes viewing and performances issue. However, if this matter continues, I'd recommend using other supported browsers.
Also, there are several payroll reports you can use to view helpful information about your business finances and employees' details. To give you the complete list and how you can access, customize, and print them, I'd recommend checking out this article: Run payroll reports.
Please keep me posted in the comments if you have other payroll concerns and questions about managing SUI taxes in QBO. I'll gladly help. Take care always, @jessieclinetn-gm.
Hi and thank you for your reply. I did try doing what you said and I get this error message: SUI rate can only change on a quarter boundary. Please enter an effective date that falls on a quarter boundary.
I don't think this seems right as I am paying close to over $200+ more than I should be on my employee. I need this resolved and set to an effective date of 2/17/2022 so that I don't have to pay way extra. We have 1 employee and paid over 1200 in 2 checks to her in tax fees so we have to get this corrected or we are going to have to change accounting providers.
Please help!
Thanks for updating us on this, jessieclinetn-gm. I know it's rough when you encounter an error after performing the recommended solution. It's my priority to ensure this gets resolved.
The error message means you'll have to enter the date that falls on a quarter boundary. I'd recommend checking the notice from your state for the new rate and the provided effective date. We'll be able to update your SUI once done.
If the error persists after adding the correct details, I'd suggest reaching out to our QuickBooks Support Team. They're equipped with tools to check the cause. It'll also allow them to submit a ticket to our engineering team to alert them about the issue if necessary.
