Utah W2 efile

This saved me so much time and headache! Thanks! It states it can take up to 48 hours to be confirmed, fingers crossed everything submitted correctly.

I don't, other than to suggest that you upgrade to QB Enterprise if you're not running that already.  Also, have you tried calling TAP support?  I found someone who is the premier geek when it comes to TAP.  Her name is Briana and her email is [email address removed] (assuming they don't remove it here.  if they do, Google my name and you're welcome to call me.  I'll give you her number.  Here's what my other contact said about her from the Commission--

Mr. Dean,

I'm glad Briana is helping you well with your TAP questions!  She is one of our most knowledgeable lead agents and she does a great job.  Her email address is [email address removed] if needed.
Thanks,
Jeff

She could probably give you an example of an excel spreadsheet that would give you an idea of the required layout.  Then, if you could get any report at all out of QuickBooks that would give you all the required information that would normally go on the W-2 and recreate the file using QuickBooks' Excel converter, I would think it would be a pretty simple process to write a script or macro that would arrange that data into the State's required Excel format.
Good luck!

Mike

Well I did, but I guess the moderators didn't like it.

How do you do this? There must have been changes because I can't figure out how to get anything other than a PDF of my W2s....and I really don't want to manually enter in all of the info.

Thanks for joining us, @allig33.

Having the correct format of state W-2s is imperative. To verify, have you tried running QuickBooks updates? If not, you'll want to update the program and the latest tax table. This will refresh your data file and sync payroll form updates. Let me guide you how.

For QuickBooks, check this article: Update QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release.

For payroll tax table: Get the latest payroll tax table update.

After running the updates, restart your computer and try e-filing your state W2. See this guide for more information: File your state W-2s with QuickBooks Desktop Payroll Enhanced.

If you're still unable to e-file, follow these steps to get an Excel format of the payroll report. This way, you can e-file the form directly to the state website as a workaround.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Employees menu at the top.
  2. Select Payroll Tax Forms & W-2s, then choose Tax Form Worksheets in Excel.
  3. This will open an Excel file, choose State W-2 or State Wage Listing tab to get the details.
  4. Follow the rest of the steps that'll guide you through the rest.

Then, visit your state website and enter the data found in the report directly to your state website form to file electronically.

I also recommend contacting our Payroll Support so we can create a ticket for you and your file to the list of affected users.

I'm adding this link in case you need help with other payroll-related tasks. It has payroll topics with articles: View all help for QuickBooks Desktop Payroll.

Please let me know if you have follow-up questions or concerns with state W2s. I'll be around for you. Take care and have a great day ahead, @allig33.
