I use QB Premier contractor edition. I received the new payroll update but when I go in to update my employees new W-4 I do not see the W-4 drop down menu. Will that be eventually installed after January 2020?

Let me share additional details about the new W-4 for 2020.
Intuit makes sure that we comply with the IRS guidelines. While this option isn't available yet, we'll notify everyone once it's ready. By that time, you'll see a pop-up to update again your payroll tax table.

I see you've already ran your payroll updates. In order for this option to be available you'll need to run updates on your QuickBooks also.
QuickBooks Updates:
1. Open the Help menu at the top.
2. Click Update QuickBooks Desktop.
3. Check the box beside Reset Update.
Once you have successfully ran the QuickBooks Updates you will need to close your program then launch again.

Just ran everything you said and the W-4 drop down button is still not there. Any other suggestions?

I have been hesitant to run the updates because I then can't have two different versions of QB opened. Has this been fixed?
It is recommended to download the latest QuickBooks payroll updates, leannjack.
By doing this, it will sync the new W-4 form for 2020. For the steps, please see the response provided by AlexV. Then, you'll be able setup your payroll information,

We only have to select country, product, and version by clicking each drop-down arrow. Then, hit the Search button and click the Get the latest updates link.
