When to Export? Intuit Online Payroll (IOP) to QuickBooks Online Payroll (QBO)

My situation:

  1. I waited until 2022 to upgrade from IOP to QBO.
  2. TODAY in Intuit Online Payroll, I filed and submitted 1099s, W2s, Q4 941, 940, State Returns, Annual Returns, etc.
  3. I need to run payroll on Wednesday, January 5th for the last week of December 2021 and the first week of January 2022.

Question #1

How long do I need to wait until I export IOP and import into QBO so all items I submitted will have cleared, been submitted, or can I do it right away?  Please provide data to support your answer.

Question #2

Will the following work? Please provide data to support your answer.
.. Open a QBO account and run payroll through QBO on Jan. 5th, 2022.

.... Keep my IOP account open for 2 more weeks, but not using IOP.  Then, after two weeks export IOP data to QBO. (I'd assume everything would have been submitted properly by then.)

> By using this option, will the IOP data merge seamlessly with QBO?

Thank you.

Thanks for your reply, but I believe some of your information is not accurate or relevant. It is geared toward accountants. Also my questions weren't specifically answered.

When to Export? Intuit Online Payroll (IOP) to QuickBooks Online Payroll (QBO)

Thanks for getting back to us, @jwilson88. I'm here to clear things up for you about migrating data from Intuit Online Payroll (IOP) to QuickBooks Online Payroll (QBOP).

The time you might need to wait to export and import your data depends on how big your company's file is.

As my colleague, AlcaeusF mentioned above, it will work if you have an active QuickBooks Online subscription and have finished setting up export of IOP data.

Unless you asked us to complete your annual filings, you will have access to your payroll data for 6 months after you cancel. In that case, you have until June of the following year. Be sure to export and save copies of your reports.

See this article for detailed information about this: Cancel Your QuickBooks Payroll Subscription.

Yes, it is completely seamless and takes under a minute to do the option you have. If you encounter an issue while doing so, I suggest contacting our Technical Support team for further assistance. Open this article for the steps: Contact Payroll Support

In addition, I'm adding this article to help you set up your new QuickBooks Online Payroll service: Get started with QuickBooks Online Payroll.

Please keep in touch with me here if you have any additional questions about migrating data from IOP to QBOP. I want to ensure your success. Have a wonderful day!
