Hi, can I use my quickbooks pro 2017 for windows on a mac too? is there a way to use the same license number or to get a mac license without purchasing another one entirely? Thank you!
Welcome to the Community, ezrancs.
QuickBooks Desktop for Mac and QuickBooks Desktop for Windows are two different platform and has a separate license. You can't install QBDT windows on mac and vise versa.
Click this link to check your license and the product number: License and product numbers.
In case you need reference on how to downloaded and installed the QuickBooks 2021 version, just click the given links. Then, ensure that your computer/laptop meets the system requirements so you can run QuickBooks Desktop without any issues.

You may have 3 options:
1. Utilize Parallels on your Mac to install and run Windows 7 and your outdated QBD 2017 license.
2. Install and run your QBD license on your PC and deploy a private cloud. Access your company file on Mac by internet connection.

3. Run a remote desktop app

1. requires you also purchase a licensed copy of Windows, can you even buy W7? end cost may exceed just buying a new Mac version of QB if all you plan on using going forward is the Mac
2. requires same version of QB be installed on all computers - you cannot just access cloud hosted Quickbooks without also having QB installed (unless you convert to Online)
3. Best bet other than....
4. Convert your company file to Online version (QBO) which is browser based and not dependant at all on the device operating system as long as it (preferrable) can run Chrome and access the internet

You will only install and run QB on the host. Other computer(s) will access the host by the internet connection.
If my co worker and I both wanted to use quick books and one of us has a mac and the other a windows computer. Can we use the same quick books account and will the quick book account be synchronised?
Thanks for joining this thread, Shak Business.
I can certainly understand how an ability to use the same QuickBooks account and synchronize it between both Windows and Mac computers could be useful and have submitted a suggestion about it as of today.
You can also submit your own feature requests while using QuickBooks.

You may have 2 options:
1. QB Desktop Pro/Premier for 2 users + a 3rd party solution. The Mac user will access and work on the same company file over the internet. You can still purchase the one time license for QBD 2021 if required.
2. QB Online
