Join nowHi there, @kim85.
Currently, Internet Explorer (IE) is the supported browser in QuickBooks Desktop. However, this browser isn't supported in QBO. This is the reason the settings icon disappears, and the Get Started button doesn't work to export data if you signed in from IE.
To export the data, you can use the following URL to initiate the download in Internet Explorer as a workaround: http://qbo.intuit.com/app/exportqbodatatoqbdt. Then, prepare to export your QuickBooks Online data by following the steps below:
Once done, refer to this article to complete the process. From there, go directly to Step 4: Finish exporting your data: Export your QuickBooks Online data to QuickBooks Desktop.
For additional reference on how you can navigate the desktop version, I also suggest visiting the following article: Get QuickBooks Desktop user guides.
Keep me posted if you have any other questions. Wishing you and your business success.
I can get to the Export Overview screen from the url exportqbodatatoqbdt, but nothing happens when I click the blue "Get Started" button, the gear icon disappears, and the Help function does not work. Two of us have been working on this for over a week now.
When I click on blue Get Started button on the Export Overview page, nothing happens. This is from exportqbodatatoqbdt.
I appreciate you following the steps provided by my colleague, kim85.
Since you're still unable to resolve the error, I recommend reaching out to our QuickBooks support. Let's use the QuickBooks Online test drive to get in touch.
Here's how:

I'm having the same issue as the above mentioned. The gear icon doesn't work. Then I tried the /exportqbodatatoqbdt and got as far as the Export Overview page. And when I click GET STARTED, nothing happens.
Your answer to this is to click on the HELP button. However, my help button also doesn't work. I get the same exact thing as when I click on the gear icon, which is nothing. Something is wrong here and I cannot figure it out. Why is something so simple as exporting data so difficult?!
Below is what I get on my scree when I click on gear icon and help button. Please help me figure this out. I've been trying to get this to work for a week.
Hi @CRCR,
I appreciate your efforts in performing all the steps above to export your QBO data. This isn't the kind of service we want you to experience, however, since all the troubleshooting steps didn't work, we recommend contacting our Support Team. They can use the screen-share tool to help better isolate and identify the cause of this behavior.
Meanwhile, let's perform basic troubleshooting steps to check why the Help button does not work. Your browser stores cache to make sites load faster, but they can sometimes cause issues when trying to do certain tasks on QuickBooks.
To start, I recommend using the QuickBooks Online test drive in other browsers, like Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox, to check whether this has something to do with your browser. If the Help button is responsive, go back to your regular browser and clear its cache. After that, please follow the steps provided above on how to contact for support.
I’ve got you an article for more insights about limitations when you convert from QuickBooks Online to QuickBooks Desktop.
