How to export quick books online to quickbooks desktop when internet explorer won't let you click on the settings button?

Welcome and thanks for reaching out to the Community, @rgoodwin88.

Internet Explorer (IE) is the default browser for QuickBooks Desktop. Since you're unable to click the settings, you may try to repair or reinstall the browser to fix the problem.

Once done, go back and continue setting up IE's security settings to export Quickbooks Online (QBO) files to Quickbooks Desktop (QBDT). Here's how:

  1. Right-click the Internet Explorer icon and tick Run as administrator.
  2. Select the Tools/Settings ⚙ icon, then Internet Options
  3. Click Security and Trusted sites.
  4. Hit Sites and enter *.intuit.com in the Add this website to the zone
  5. Make sure the Require server verification (https: ) for all sites in this zone is unchecked.
  6. Close the Trusted Sites window, then ensure that the Enable Protected Mode is unchecked.
  7. Choose Apply, then Okay. Leave Internet Explorer open.

After that, set up QuickBooks Desktop for the export. Here's how:

  1. Right-click the QBDT icon, then Run as administrator.
  2. Go to the File menu at the top left and select Close Company.
  3. Leave QuickBooks Desktop open while you complete the rest of the steps.

Once done, you can now move to the exporting process. For further guidance, consider checking out this article and proceed to Step 3: Export your QuickBooks Online data to QuickBooks Desktop.

Just in case, I'll add this article for future reference: Limitations when you convert from QuickBooks Online to QuickBooks Desktop.

Please let me know if you have any other concerns or issues, and I'll get back to you as soon as possible. I'm more than willing to assist. Have a wonderful weekend!

How to export quick books online to quickbooks desktop when internet explorer won't let you click on the settings button?

Hi,

trying to export our books from our Online account to desktop  and then up to a new online account.
Using win10 and Explorer 11

Following all the steps to steps the security settings.

When I try to find the "Export " link - nothing is showing under the settings cog (the dropdown list is not even showing).

Found an article that I should use:

https://c1.qbo.intuit.com/app/exportqbodatatoqbdt is this happened.

Get to "Export overview" and install the ActiveX controls + whitelist the https://qbo.intuit.com as directed but is getting the "unexpected Problem" (see attachment)

Had this every time I tried since yesterday, so it is not temporary any longer.

please help.

An unexpected problem occurred on the server during your request. You can:

  • Wait a while and try again. The problem could be temporary and may be resolved in a few minutes.
  • Modify what you're doing (for example, if you are trying to create a report, customize it to display less data).

If you continue to have problems, contact Support.

How to export quick books online to quickbooks desktop when internet explorer won't let you click on the settings button?

Thanks for joining this conversation, @Lövstedt.

Since you're still getting the same error message after following those steps, I highly suggest contacting our Phone Support team. They're able to pull up your account in a secure environment and further investigate the root cause of this issue. They can also perform other troubleshooting steps to fix this for you.

Here's how to reach them:

  1. Open QuickBooks Online (QBO) and click the Help (question mark) icon at the top right.
  2. Select Contact Us at the bottom to connect with our live support.

Just in case, I'll add these articles for future reference:

I want to make sure everything is taken care of for you, so please let me know if you have any other issues or concerns. I'll be here to assist. Have a good one!

How to export quick books online to quickbooks desktop when internet explorer won't let you click on the settings button?

Hi Fritz - the problem with you only supporting IE, is that the drop-down lists does not work, so when you click on the Help button, you get an empty white area opening up.

The web designer obviously didn't think that you still needed this ancient browser to work.

Any other ways to contact support?

How to export quick books online to quickbooks desktop when internet explorer won't let you click on the settings button?

Hello there, Lövstedt.

As we continue to make improvements and cope up with the technology, we are discontinuing support for old operating systems specifically Internet Explorer 11 and Safari 10 and below.

Learn more about details about this change through this article: Discontinuing support for Internet Explorer and old Safari versions.

You can use other supported browsers (Google Chrome, FireFox, Microsoft Edge, Google Play, Apple App Store and Safari) in accessing QuickBooks Online.

Once done, you can follow the steps below on how to reach out to our QuickBooks Care Support.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Help menu at the upper right.
  2. Select Contact Us.
  3. Enter your concern.
  4. Click Let’s talk.
  5. Choose Get a callback
  6. Type in your contact info.
  7. Select Confirm my call.

Get back to me if you need further help. I'm always happy to assist. Have a great day ahead!
