Join nowWe are currently using QB Pro 2016 through a cloud hosting service. We no longer need cloud access to our data and would like to move everything back to our local computer. We only own Macs here and would like to run QB Mac 2020. Is there any way to convert from Pro 2016 (PC Desktop) to the newest version of QB Mac?
Hello, @AtlantaBIRT.
At this time, we're able to convert a QuickBooks for Windows file to QuickBooks for Mac, but, we can't directly convert your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) Pro 2016 to QBDT for Mac 2020.
All you need to do is to purchase QBDT for Mac 2020, then get ready with converting your windows file to your mac.
For your reference, read this article: Convert a QuickBooks for Windows file to QuickBooks for Mac. Also, you can consider reading this link as your guide in converting the QBDT Mac file to Windows.
Also, consider checking these articles for more information about the QBDT for Mac features as well as how to download and install the product:
Let me know if you have any other questions. I'm always here to help. Have a good day!
Ask your service provider to convert your file. They can utilize the trial license of Pro 2020 to help you.
Then you can open the converted file on trial license of Mac 2020 prior to purchase it.
@Angelyn_T Good morning! I'm not sure that I'm exactly following your instructions. You say "we can't directly convert your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) Pro 2016 to QBDT for Mac 2020." but then say all I need to do is purchase QBDT for Mac 2020 then convert my Windows file to Mac. I read the links you provided but they don't seem to address my current situation - can you give me a little more guidance? Thanks so much!
@Fiat Lux - ASIA Unfortunately it looks like they aren't willing to help unless I lease a 2020 license from them or purchase one myself.
Utilize these trial licenses to convert it.
