can I install QB Desktop 2020 in the new Ipad Pro?
Hi @clari,
Installing QuickBooks on your iPad isn't possible. Instead of the traditional software, there is a QuickBooks app that you can connect and access through your iPad.
Please see this article for more information about QuickBooks App for Windows and Mac. I've also added this handy article for your reference: Clean install QuickBooks Desktop.
Stay in touch if you have other questions or concerns. I'd be glad to help. Thanks for visiting us today and happy weekend.
Which QB Desktop version do you have? QBD Pro/Premier or QBD Mac?
How many user license do you have?
But the original question was regarding quickbooks desktop, not quickbooks online. Is there a way to use an ipad to use & sync with the quickbooks desktop file, other than remotely controlling the desktop computer?
I like the features of the desktop version of quickbooks but sometimes need to remotely use the file.
thank you.
Allow me to share some information about the iPad in QuickBooks, bobby m.
The ability to use and sync with iPad is only available in QuickBooks Online. I'll take note of this and we'll look forward to seeing this on the next update.
In addition, QuickBooks Desktop is a powerful program that is only designed for computers and laptops. You'll want to compare both programs to see how they deliver.

If you are using QB Desktop Windows version at your premise, you may deploy a private cloud and access the company file on your iPad.
That’s sounds like a good solution, thank you!
Do you mean like storing and operating the company file from Dropbox or Google drive?
...
So my new iPad Pro and QuickBooks is not a viable combination? Wish that was mentioned before I purchased it.
Will there ever be an iPad Pro platform?
Thanks for joining this thread, @Jman1.
Thanks for joining this thread. Allow me to share some insights about installing QuickBooks on your iPad.
As mentioned by my colleagues in this thread, installing QuickBooks Desktop on your iPad is unavailable. However, you can use QuickBooks Point of Sale or anything with your laptop. Then install QuickBooks Desktop on another laptop or computer.
For more details on how to register QBOS, check out this article: Activate QuickBooks Desktop Point of Sale.
Also, QuickBooks Online mobile app works perfectly with your iPad. This feature has the ability to use and sync with your iPad. In case you to know more and how to download QuickBooks Online mobile app, see this article: How to download the QuickBooks Online mobile app.
To give you more details about the features for QBO and QBDT, please refer to this article: Comparison between QBAT nad QBO.
Let me know if you have other concerns about these programs. I’d be glad to help.
Just to clarify your needs. Why did you purchase an iPad, not MacBook?
Hi, unfortunately ipad app does not have same abilities as desktop quickbooks app, we can't have multiple invoices or estimates open, on ipad or iphone we cant convert deposit invoice from the estimate as we can easily do on desktop, is there any options about how i can access quickbooks fully on the ipad ?
thank you

Thank you. Your options are “to pay more money”
You are wanting to make applesauce from oranges. An iPad is nothing more than a large format phone. It is a tablet, not a full computer. QB Desktop in both PC and IOS versions has minimum machine and operating system specs and neither is directly compatible with the other. QB PC cannot open QB MAC and vice versa.
Your easiest solution however IS REMOTE DESKTOP. I recommend Splashtop. Yes you will pay some nominal monthly fee but you ido not after installing splashtop or other remote app have to install anything else. All you need do is ensure your desktop is always powered on and able to be woken remotely, which is an easy setting. Guaranteed you can access your QB for Windows from your is based iPad or absolutely any internet connected device. It will even work with a 1st Gen ipad! I have done so.
If on same network, remote desktop apps are free
If you don't need to access the file in multi user mode, remote desktop app is a cheapest solution. You may explore Splashtop as mentioned by john-pero.

But if you still declined to pay anything, explore Chrome Remote Desktop app.
I had the same question for my ipad pro-guess ipads cannot ultimately replace a laptop if it can't download software. Maybe silly question but I'm really tring to think outside the box here, can QB be downloaded directly to an external hard drive and then access via the ipad? Prob not since certail OS software is needed to download but I'm asking anyway......
Thanks for joining in this conversation, @mobileuser. You can only move your company file to another computer, but not on the Ipad.
This is because you'll still need to install QuickBooks Desktop on the new computer. And as mentioned by my peer ShiellaGraceA, Installing QuickBooks on your iPad isn't possible.
You can read through this article for more insights: Move your company files to another computer.
You'll want to consider signing up for QuickBooks Online and access through QuickBooks Mobile App. Check out this article to learn more: How to download the QuickBooks Online mobile app.
Post some more if you have other questions about QuickBooks. I'm right here to help at any time. Take care always.
The iPad Pro specs are more than enough to handle the desktop version of QB.
The iPad Pro specs are more than capable of handling the desktop version of QB.
In addition to the spec, a software needs to run on the operating system. Afaik, Apple didn't design macOS to run on the iPad. You need a workaround to run QB Desktop on any mobile device based on iOS or Android.
Absolutely correct. My point was simply that this is possible if QB wanted to do it.
