Out of 13 machines I had one today that when I tried to get into QB Enterprise 16.0 I had an error about IE being updated. IE was up to date. I searched the community and tried several options to get by it but opted to uninstall QB and reinstall. Now I see that 16.0 download is no longer available and there is no support to help. I have W7 machines which is also not supported. Are there any options available to me to avoid having to upgrade my machines to W10? The latest version I see on our bill QuickBooks Enterprise Silver edition Standard. Can I download that on our W7 machines?
Whatever I do all the machines have to be running the same version of QB correct?
Hi @nancyl,
I'm here to take care of all your queries about your QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise version 16.
Your last statement is correct. You'll need to have all the systems in a single network of a QuickBooks Desktop company to have the same version. As for the page where you can download the app, open this link: Download QuickBooks Desktop.
Take a look at the screenshots below for your reference:
A quick heads up though, since the Enterprise 16 version is already discontinued, I suggest you get a hold of a supported version such as version 18 or later, so you can continue to receive Intuit updates.
In case you encounter any issues during the installation process, view this article: Fix QuickBooks Desktop install errors. It's a list of several sets of steps for specific error codes you may bump into this process.
I'll be around in case you have other questions about your Enterprise product. I'll be sure to handle them all for you.
I tried this download over and over again and was told in a chat that I can't because I'm using W7. Chat told me that both W7 and 16.0 has no support so I can't download it. It sucks that because I had to uninstall it on one machine that I can't reinstall it and we pay $$$$$$$ big bucks and we're forced to upgrade. I an also concerned that if I received the IE 11.0 error on that machine that it might happen to all of my machines. I couldn't open QB at all and there was not changes to the computer. I clicked the icon and the error about IE 11.0 came up. Can I just upgrade to W8.1 and use a newer version of QB?????
Hello @nancyl,
I appreciate you for getting back to us here in the Community. Allow me to chime in and share some information about using QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise.
As of January 14, 2020, Microsoft no longer provides updates or support for machines running Windows 7. Computers running this Operating System are more vulnerable to security risks and viruses.
At Intuit, the security of our customer's data is a top priority. That's the reason why we encourage you to upgrade to a later version.
Also, please note that we support each QuickBooks Desktop version for three years only. Add-on services like payroll, Technical Support, Payments, Updates, and Online Banking is no longer available.
To answer your question, yes, you can use Windows 8.1 to a newer supported version. Check out this page: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/desktop/enterprise/technical-specs/.
I've also attached an article you can use to learn more about the QuickBooks discontinuation policy in QuickBooks: QuickBooks Desktop service discontinuation policy and upgrade information.
Feel free to hit that Reply button if you have additional questions using a newer version of the product. Have a great day ahead.
You may try reinstalling and running QB Desktop 2016 on compatibility mode Win 7 in Win 10. Bu the real problem is we are not allowed to reinstall any outdated QBD Enterprise. System were blocking our activation process and Support has declined to activate it manually. If you decided upgrading to QBD Enterprise 2021, you may purchase the license thru a partner to get the perpetual renewal discount.
