Need Advice

Hello all,

I currently for a company that uses QB for all of their accounting needs. They seem to have issue after issue ranging all over the place, from server/network to client side errors.

More specifically its a regular day for my client to have h202, for every user at least once.

They have constant issues with the outlook integration causing crashes in Outlook, QB, and sometimes even the PC itself.

They have small seeming random/insignificant errors that only require an "okay" and never effect performance.

I have called QB support at least a bakers dozen times to resolve these various issues, and am always left with what is ultimately a band-aid that gets ripped off two or three days later.

The current configuration of their setup is SERVER(VM) -> Switch (1Gb/s) -> Client machines.

Every endpoint machine is running windows 10 1903, Office 365 apps, and QB enterprise 19.

Server 2012 R2. the server and client machines are on the same side of the firewall. so its not a firewall issue.

Does anyone have recommendations as to how to improve this setup, or are these just little issues we have to deal with because QB.

Thanks for getting back to us, @Sean_penny.

The steps outlined in the article provided by my colleague should help fix the error you're getting when working in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT). Since the same thing happens after performing those, I highly suggest contacting our Phone Support team again so they can open a ticket and forward it to our Product Engineers for further investigation.

Here's how to reach them:

  1. Open QBDT, then go to the Help menu at the top to get to the QuickBooks Desktop Help.
  2. Click Contact Us at the bottom to connect with our live support.

Just in case, I'll also add this article for future reference: How to fix Error H202 and H505.

I want to make sure everything is taken care of for you, so please let me know if you have any other issues or concerns. I'm more than happy to assist. Have an amazing rest of the day!

Thank you for the detailed information, @Sean_penny.

Error H202 usually happens when something is blocking the multi-user connection to your server. When a user tries to access a file placed on another computer, and the copy of QuickBooks cannot reach the server on that computer.

These are the possible causes of this error:

  1. QuickBooks Desktop is trying to establish a connection to the company file but can’t communicate with the server due to one of the following reasons:
    • Incorrect hosting configuration settings
    • A system firewall blocking incoming and outgoing communication
    • Damaged or wrong DNS settings
    • QuickBooks is unable to get the IP address of the host system or server hosting the company file.
  2. Some internal QuickBooks services like QuickBooksDBXX or QBCFMonitor aren’t running yet
  3. QuickBooks Database Server Manager is damaged

Depending on what causes the error, there could be several solutions to fix it. For your guide, check out this article: How to fix Error H202 and H505.

Also, to use QuickBooks smoothly, I recommend updating it to the latest release.

Leave a comment below if you have any other questions. I'm happy to help. Have a great day!

I do remember installing those tools and running through them with a QB tech.

After running all the tools, there weren't any errors but all the issues returned a couple days later.

Running those tools every other day isn't really a "fix" either
