Point of Sale Client cannot connect

We are having some troubles with our clients connecting to our server for POS.

Note we just moved the hosting of the POS and QB Enterprise Suite to a new server.

The QB Enterprise Suite connects just fine, between the server and client. I can Remote desktop to the server from the client. Basically all the connections work but POS. ha.

The POS application does not connect. I can ping back and forth. I have opened the firewall ports recommended. I've tested just disabling the firewall on both the client and master, and that didn't work.

I download the POS connectivity tool. The server checks out okay, and of course when I test the connection to itself, it works.

On the client side, when I run the POS connectivity tool, it shows okay, but when I run the test, it fails to connect to the server.

I am not sure what all to try now. Any help would be appreciated!

Point of Sale Client cannot connect

Thanks for the details, pleaseheIplol1234.

There are lots of possibilities why the POS server won't work on your client's end. These includes:

  • The computer doesn't meet system requirements to run QuickBooks Desktop Point of Sale.
  • A damaged company file.
  • The client's workstation can't find the server on the network.
  • Windows security is set too high.
  • The Point of Sale installation is damaged.

If they meet all the system requirements, you can follow these steps to fix the connection error:

  1. You'll have to empty the contents of the Entitlement Client folder.
  2. By the use of Windows Explorer, go to: C:\Program Data\Intuit\Entitlement Client\v8.
  3. Press Ctrl+A keys to select all the files in the folder, then press Delete.
  4. Click Yes to confirm.
  5. Once done, relaunch QuickBooks Desktop Point of Sale and re-register the application.

If the same thing happens, you can try the steps below:

  1. isplay hidden files and folders on your computer.
  2. Go to the Windows Explorer and navigate to: C:\Program Data\Intuit\ QuickBooks Point of Sale XX\Ini.
  3. Right-click WSActivity and select Rename.
  4. Type OLDWSActivity and then click anywhere to save the change.
  5. Close the window and open QuickBooks Desktop Point of Sale.

Also, you can always visit our Community help page to find articles you can bookmark for future use. Then, enter a keyword of your concern on the search box or select any of the categories displayed.

Let me know how these steps work on your end. I'll be around to ensure that your client continues working on their POS.

Point of Sale Client cannot connect

Whelp I finally figured it out.

After watch about an hours worth of videos on youtube by BlackRock POS. It was that subnet mask between the client and server were different. The server had 255.255.0.0, and the client had 255.0.0.0. Once I matched them, it worked instantly.

Best Regards,
