I have installed Premier 22 on a Windows 10 workstation, says it is successful.  When I open the icon the industry selection window opens and I select the industry, click next and then confirm by clicking finish.  At this point the program shuts down with no error messages, just disappears from the screen.  If I click on the icon again it goes right to the industry selection window again.  Intuit says it not the program because it successfully installed on other workstations,  what would cause this problem?

Good evening, @JD221

Welcome to the Community! Let's work together to get this problem handled.

The best route for this situation would be to uninstall and do a clean install of the program. Here's a guide that can help you clean install

It would also be helpful for you to run the QuickBooks Tool Hub and check the .net framework to ensure it has the right ones downloaded. Use the Installation Issues section in this article: Fix common problems and errors with the QuickBooks Desktop Tool Hub

I hope this helps resolve your issue. Please, reach back out if you have any other questions or concerns. Take care!

We have uninstalled and reinstalled fresh several times,  used all the Tool Hub options to no avail.  We have also removed all other versions of QB's from the workstation as well.  Even tried to reinstall QB Premier 19 which was on the workstation prior,  QB Premier 19 gets to the same industry selection screen and crashes before it will configure the industry?

Let's get this resolved so you can get back to work, JD221.

To get started, let me explain why QuickBooks Desktop may have crashed or stopped working. Here are a few examples:

  • You may have a damaged or missing QBWUSER.INI file
  • You may have corruption on your hard drive
  • Your program files or QuickBooks Desktop installation may be damaged
  • You may have a damaged Windows operating system

To resolve this. let's make sure your workstation doesn't have any pending Windows updates. Then, you can run a quick repair on your QuickBooks Desktop program. I'll show you how.

  1. Restart your computer.
  2. Open the Windows Start menu, then click Control Panel.
  3. Select Programs and Features, then Uninstall a Program.
  4. Choose QuickBooks from the list of programs, then click Uninstall/Change.
  5. Select Continue, or Next.
  6. Click Repair, then Next.
  7. Once it's done, hit Finish.

If the issue persists, you can rename the QBWUSER.ini file. This will remove the list of previously opened company files from your computer.

Here's how:

  1. Open the folder where the QBWUSER.ini file is saved: Users[Your user name]AppDataLocalIntuitQuickBooks [year]
  2. If you can't see the folder, you might need to enable hidden files and folders.
  3. Right-click the QBWUSER.ini file and select Rename.
  4. Add .old at the end of the file name (as in QBWUSER.ini.old).
  5. Rename the EntitlementDataStore.ecml file.
  6. Reopen QuickBooks Desktop.

If it continues crashing, I recommend getting in touch with our QuickBooks Desktop Support. They can pull up your account and open a ticket for investigation.

I'm also including this article as a reference guide in case you need to restore a backup of your company file in the future: Restore a backup of your company file

If there is anything else I can do for you, please don't hesitate to add any details below. I'll be there to help. Stay safe and enjoy your day.
