There are updates for QBDT Pro 2024. Message to "install now or later" pops up. I know from experience it's best to install the updates right away due to performance issues in the program. When I select install now, I get the pop-up message below which doesn't seem to go away. I've restarted several times to no avail. Is there something special I should be doing to get the update installed?
"To install the update, QuickBooks and its related applications must close. We'll try to do that for you, but you might have to reboot your computer to close everything."
Hey @dso0216,
- Ensure you're running the latest version of QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) 2024, which is R6_75, to avoid critical update alerts and maintain uninterrupted access.
- If experiencing a white screen during the upgrade process, try changing the one-time message prompts option in the General Preferences to refresh the app system.
- For troubleshooting installation errors, consider using the QuickBooks Desktop Tool Hub, which offers a variety of fix-it tools.
- Keep in mind that after May 31, 2024, support for QBDT 2021 will be discontinued, affecting live technical support and other Intuit services like Payroll, Payments, and online bank feeds.
- Regular updates are crucial as they provide new features, bug fixes, and security enhancements to protect your financial data and ensure smooth software operation. Dial .

I am trying to install updates to an existing QBDT 2024 Pro file. The client upgraded to QBDT prior to the sunset date of May 31,2024. For some reason the updates are ready to install but the pop-up message I referred to below won't go away!!
Thanks for reaching out to the Community, dso0216. I appreciate your detailed information.
Since you're encountering a "To install the update, QuickBooks and its related applications must close. We'll try to do that for you, but you might have to reboot your computer to close everything." message when trying to install your latest update, I'd initially recommend checking the system date and time on your computer. Incorrect system date and/or times can interfere with our update process.

If you continue encountering the message, you can try some of the additional troubleshooting steps in our Fix QuickBooks Update Errors article. You can also troubleshoot with your Verify data and QuickBooks Tool Hub utilities.
In the event none of the above-mentioned troubleshooting makes your message go away, I'd recommend getting in touch with our Customer Care team. They'll be able to pull up the account in a secure environment conduct further research, and create an investigation ticket if necessary.
I'll be here to help if there's any additional questions. Have a great Wednesday!
Version is R6_90
