quickbooks for Mac 2020 setup

You can uninstall QuickBooks Desktop 2020 if youv'e already installed it. After that, move the file to a specific location you want. Usually, the default location of the file is in Documents, then QuickBooks.

Then, double-click the installer from the folder where your file is located at. This will open the QuickBooks installation window automatically. 

Once done, drag the QuickBooks icon to the Applications folder to open the Applications folder automatically. From there, double-click the icon to open QuickBooks.

The problem I’m having is with the configuration of QuickBooks on my Mac desktop computer. I’ve been using QuickBooks 2020 for a while now and just recently have discovered that I have two .qb2020 files in two different places on the computer. One is in “documents” and the other is on my desktop. The one that the QuickBooks program defaults to is the one on the desktop.

I don’t really want the file sitting on my desktop because it’s not the proper place for it. When installing I must’ve done something incorrectly to cause it to be there. I think it really belongs in “documents.” I have not moved it because I want the QuickBooks program to be able to find it. And right now it finds it on my desktop.

 There is actually a SECOND .qb2020 file sitting in documents completely separate from the one on the desktop but it has the same name. It was last modified 2/28/2020, whereas the one on my desktop was modified 2/2/2020 so they are definitely different files. I’m worried about missing data/overlapping data and I really just want to throw away stuff that shouldn’t be there so it’s not confusing. 

Since they both have the same name, it’s a concern.

You may want to double-check the extension file sitting on your desktop if it's *.qbw, you can keep that file and delete the others.

Hi. The extension on the file on my desktop reads .qb2020. I don't know if the extension name was changed or not. I'm on a Mac too by the way.

The extension on the QuickBooks file on my desktop says .qb2020. I don't see a .qbw.
