If you have a QB Desktop file with a Total Target between 350K-750K, you need to use QBO Advanced. Otherwise, you should consider purchasing a third-party conversion service.

Hi there, Honess15. An active QuickBooks Online (QBO) subscription is needed to migrate your data successfully. You have 60 days from the creation date of your account to transfer it. I'll provide more details about this.

If it's your first time logging in, the system will prompt you to create your company, and you must complete this step.

If you already have an existing company file, you have the option to override it. However, it's important to note that the total targets need to be less than 750,000 for it to be converted.

Ensure your QBDT is up-to-date and create a backup of your company file to prevent potential losses due to unforeseen circumstances before initiating any changes.

If you're using the Pro or Premier version, please follow these steps on how to transfer your data:

  1. Go to the Company menu. Pick Export Your Company File to QuickBooks Online.
  2. Get Started. Sign in as an admin to your QBO company.
  3. Select Choose an online company, and choose which you want to replace with your company file.
  4. Continue once done.

If you're using the Enterprise version, here's how to do it:

  1. Sign in as an admin to the desktop company file you want to move.
  2. Press Ctrl + 1 on your keyboard to open the Product Information window.
  3. Pin Ctrl + B + Q. Click OK to display the export window, then tick Get Started.
  4. Sign in as an admin to your QBO company.
  5. Select Choose online company. Pick the one you want to replace with your company file.
  6. Hit Continue.

Once the process is completed, you can seamlessly work in the cloud-based QBO system, enabling you to access your data from anywhere and collaborate with others in real-time.

It's essential to become familiar with the new system as there are some differences between the two products. For instance, some features may not be available in one system or may function differently.
