I'm having issues running my QB Pro 2020 Desktop software. I already tried the QuickBooks Tool Hub with no improvements. Now, when I want to uninstall the software I get this error:
"Error 1316. The specified account already exists."
How can I resolve this?
Thank you,
Marty
Hello there, @gnocchi.
I've got a couple of steps that you can follow to uninstall the QuickBooks Desktop to avoid receiving error 1316.
Since you've already used the QuickBooks Tool Hub, it doesn't fix the issue. I recommend removing it through the Control Panel, so you can uninstall it successfully without receiving an error. Here's how:
Another option that you can do is to uninstall the software and rename the installation folder manually. You can refer to this article for more details about this process: Clean install QuickBooks Desktop.
If it still doesn't fix the issue and you can't uninstall it, I'll include this link to resolve problems that block programs from being removed or installed on your device.
In case you want to reinstall QuickBooks Desktop, you can download and install it again on your computer to manage your accounts and business.

Happy New Year to you and your team.
Unfortunately, the same Error 1316 message always shows up upon uninstalling QB. The software
then rollsback any uninstallation tasks and I'm back to square one.
Therefore the step suggested to manually uninstall QB from one of your links is not working.
Looking forward to new suggestions.
Thanks,
Marty
Thanks for getting back with the Community, gnocchi.
Since you're unable to uninstall QuickBooks without encountering error 1316, I'd recommend getting in touch with our Customer Care team. They'll be able to pull up your account in a secure environment, conduct further research, and create an investigation ticket if necessary.
They can be reached while using QuickBooks.
Here's how:
Be sure to review their support hours so you'll know when agents are available. You can also contact them outside of product if necessary.

Install the trial version of QB Desktop 2021 to isolate the problem.
Thank you for your help,
Since I'm unable to run Quickbooks at all, I'm not able to perform the indicated tasks.
In addition, even though I was able to uninstall Quickbooks Desktop Pro 2020 using a third-party tool,
I'm still unable to reinstall it. I've gotten the following errors, even though I made sure that all .NET options in Windows features were turned on.
- Error 1712. One or more of the files required to restore your computer to its previous state could not be found. Restoration will not be possible. #when installing Quickbooks with new installer
- Error 1935. An error occurred during the installation of assembly Microsoft.VC90.ATL, version = 9.0.30729.1...
I'll reach out support and go from there. I do welcome any other tips you may have.
Thanks,
Marty

Hello Again,
I followed all the .NET steps on this link after uninstalling my antivirus.
I now get the following screen when using Quickbooks Desktop Pro 2020.
Apparently the Error code 1935 is due to .Net installation missing or corrupted. I reinstalled .Net from scratch and these are the .Net versions I have installed:
Currently installed "classic" .NET Versions in the system:
2.0.[removed] Service Pack 2
3.0.[removed] Service Pack 2
3.5.[removed] Service Pack 1
4.0.0.0
4.8.09032
What other .NET version do I need installed for a successful install?
Thanks,
Marty
