Buy nowI recognize the importance of accessing your company files in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), @pelli69. I'm here to share details about activating an older version.
Activating your QBDT 2010/2011 version is no longer possible as these versions have been discontinued. Your best option moving forward is to gradually upgrade to a currently supported version.
For more details, please refer to this article: QuickBooks Desktop service discontinuation policy.
Additionally, you can refer to these articles about the system requirements of QBDT:
Let us know if you have other concerns with activating your QBDT. We're here to help you in any way we can.
I do not want to upgrade. I want to use the software that I have purchased. Just because I have had to upgrade my computer should not affect the ability to use software that I have legally purchased. I do not understand why QB cannot activate my software
You are using an outdated version, You can use the trial version as a workaround.
Same situation with QB 2013, I chatted with customer service, they can´t (or more accurately don´t want to) provide a code. I have been using 2003 for a long time on a (Win XP computer, one day it will fail). So I decided to finally use a 2013 I have had in a drawer for 11 years, installed fine, but it clearly says it will " die" 30 days from now. Intuit is the only company I know that won´t let you use their old software. I will keep using 2003 until I find a solution. As many others here, I have a very limited use for it, I can´t justify upgrading to the monthly service.
I
Do you have 2003 or 2013 or both?
Same for me using 2010/11. They will not register it on my new device so I cannot use it
Consider to upgrade your data to a newer version (i.e 2016 or later).
I am a one man business and use Quickbooks for very minor works.
I cannot justify having to go to a yearly subscription based software
I purchased the original software outright - it is very poor service that they I cannot continue to use the software purely because I need to upgrade my computer
Unfortunately they have the right not to reactivate your old license. You can still find QB Desktop with a non subscription license in the marketplaces. Otherwise, you can contact @Fiat Lux - ASIA to find one.
Where can I find non subscription QB? The person you mentioned wanted over $1000 to crack my version of QB
What is the crack version? Last week my client was able to get QB Desktop 2016 for about $100 from them. They paid for the license after installing it without any problem.
They offered to crack my version of 2010/11 so that it would work on my new computer but they wanted $1000.
Also wanted to be paid upfront. Now I was not sending $1000 to someone I know nothing about in another country having just been given their details online
Are you in the US? I agree with Chrea. My clients paid for old licenses via ACH once their licenses were activated and could open their files or the sample file.
Do you have QB Desktop US version or else? If you are in Australia, as I know companies there use old QB Desktop version powered by Reckon, not Intuit.
You can still contact Reckon but they definitely wouldn't bother to help. Intuit would also do the same in your case. I suggest contacting Fiat Lux again and asking them to lower the service fee to help you and pay it via Paypal.
Check out m_ridon's post on May25, 2022 that will explain a workaround.
I cannot find the post using the user name - do you have the topic of the post?
Here is some information in the body of his post:
This file is referred to in the post:
"C:\ProgramData\Intuit\Entitlement Client\v5\EntitlementDataStore.ecml"
This is the relative info in his post:
So I deleted the ECML file altogether. Lo and behold, QuickBooks opened perfectly fine on the new PC, but the 30-day free trial was restarted at 0 days. Thus, had I not found my validation code, as mentioned in my first paragraph, I would have been content to merely delete the ECML file once a month so I could continue using the software. In my opinion, that file deletion is a very minor setback, in exchange for continued use of the software. So hopefully, this will help someone else if they would like to continue using their old version of QuickBooks.
I basically says delete this file when the software does not start due to the registration process that Quickbooks has changed - and then restart the software. Then you are good for another 30 days.
Thank you for your message.
Unfortunately no such file/folder exists for the Australian Installation
So I am having the same issue. I have used QB 2007 Pro for years as a desktop version. I only used it for invoicing. The computer it was installed on had a catastrophic MB failure. I loaded the the OEM program and entered the license key. I removed the HD from the computer and used it as a mass storage to retrieve my company file. It worked fine. Fast forward two weeks and now the computer is wanting me to register. Will not allow me to view my file. I contacted CS and they said they could not validate my copy as it was never registered, which is BS because I used it for years registered. They were offering every option under the sun. I explained to them that I did have internet where that particular computer was set up and QB 2007 will not load on a newer computer. The CS rep kept telling me she was going to email me steps to open the file, again I repeated I do not have internet in this location. She never even listened and what's more could hardly speak English and kept repeating her script. Lousy CS. I have done a little research and QB is actually committing offenses against federal consumer law by not allowing me access to my purchased copy of their product. Considering this has my financial information for my company they are blocking access to my ability to process information on my customers which is a violation of privacy acts. Just keep after them.
You can consider to purchase a newer version (e.g QB Desktop 2016 or later) to upgrade your data.
